Advice on taping off wheels for dying?

I've looked through quite a few threads and I haven't really come across any solid advice on taping off wheels... only two ive heard is using a hot glue gun and tape...

...but what kind of tape? no idea.

Also, I'm looking to only dye the cores and not the urethane..

Flywheels with black cores sound pretty sick to me

I would think duct tape would work decently. You could probably do it up with vacuum bag sealant though...
