Default Breaking in lemon retro freerides

I have a fairly new set of 83A lemon Retro freerides.Today i spent over an hour walking up and going down the same hill, with sharp enough carves that the rear end was sometime sliding out. Also after carving extremely sharp toeside, the board suddenly did a 180 and i fell off with a bad stack.(So im not doing stand up slides again while breaking them in)
Anyway at this pace i find that its going to take me a while to break them in,and the only slides i can do is speedchecks, colemans and pendy's,with gloves.
So i am wondering when i should start sliding the wheels,to break them in faster?Or should i just keep carving, even though it seems like it will take forver .

You can start sliding right away, wheels with no lips doesn`t need any "break-in" as lipped wheels does.

Keep sliding. A good way to make sure you're getting your front wheels evenly is to drift corners and do colemans at speed and try to stay sideways instead of doing a 180. The one problem I had with mine during break-in was getting the front and back to break in at the same rate. You can rotate too, but I'm lazy.

Try putting more weight on your arms, less wait on the wheels and push your feet out more when first doing slides. then they will break in quicker sounds silly but it works.

The best part of the lemon Freeriders is taking the mold release off, imo. It was fun just carving and trying to push the back out until it actually did happen. Once you can stand up speedcheck wheels a bit, the first couple will be a bit chattery, but after that, it's smoooooooooooottttttttth sailing!

Yeah, it was probably the wheels, not your technique.

I suggest you just ride them how you would ride whatever wheels you're replacing with them. You will acclimate to the difference in feel and be fine. Limiting yourself will only prolong the amount of time you feel weird on them.

Mine took forever to break in. Keep at it. Don't be afraid to bust some slides, it won't hurt anything.

My Lemons took a few go outs (2 hour sessions) of cruising/carving before I could reliably do standup slides, especially backside 180s. All in all though, about the same breakin period for my 83a strikers I had on my last Dervish (before some douchebag stole it).

Is there much of a difference between the the yello and greens in terms of cruising comfort? Looking to pick up a set in the near future but I want to carve on them as well but not have a rocky ride because of too hard of a duro, but still slide niceeeeeeeeely.

Yeah. The lemons are noticeably harder. I love the slide of limes above 30.

my limes broke in fairly quickly. about 3 runs of standies did the trick. But like deathfrog said, they really excel more and more the faster you go. anything below 20mph just doesn't give you a good idea of how well the wheels can perform. Not that they don't perform well at slower speeds, but I was just thoroughly blown away the faster and faster I took them wether it be drifts, pendies, or standies.

I've got lemons and though I havn't rid the limes I don't see what the fuss is about these wheels not being very good for the commute. A bit more chattery than say a gumball but its still fast and soft ( it's almost like people havn't riden a street skate before...) But yea I'm lovin the lemons I took them up to Danger bay and they were sweet.

Just wanted to add, the Retro freerides are also great as far as the size. IMO 70mm (starting out) is a bit too small, while my old 77mm Strikers were too huge. 72mm is just about perfect, especially on a wheel like the Retro freeride with the design of the wheel and the urethane...seems like the wheel will last a long time.

Do you know how to pump your board? Do that for a while, and it'll help break them in.
