    Default Carving/Cruising Wheel

I searched for like an hour then got tired and decided to give in to just making a thread for my own selfish needs.

I'm looking for a carving wheel that will smoothly drift at the apex of my carves. I'd also like a wheel that has a good roll speed and a smooth ride because I'll also be using it for commuting.

I tried a friend's NeverSummer 72mm/78a wheels, and I liked how easy the were to break into a drift, but I have heard a lot of people on here saying they are lower quality wheels.

I'd like something in the 70ish mm range and as far as duro goes I don't really know.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

    Anthony

Try a set of gumballs. they are 76mm. and come in 75,78, 81,84 duros. id get either a 78 or an 81 for some nice drifts. but i have the 78a and those work perfect. grips on carves and pulls a nice drift at heigh speeds. The well lasts forever too! unless your ripping slide sessions all day.

These are a few I have ridden:
Pink Powerballs (or the new Abec 11 Freeriders-have not ridden but have heard good things)
    Abec 11 Flashbacks
S9 Race Formulas (rounded lip, center set)
    Gravity Drifters

Abec 11 Flashbacks sound like what you want. There will also be people who will suggest 76mm 80 S9 Goddess of Speed wheels in the Race Formula urethane. Pink Powerballs are also a fairly nifty wheel. IMO, the Retro Freeriders are not that good of a wheel for commuting because they have a bit more of a "rough" feel to them for just day to day things. However, if you're looking to do soft wheel sliding, they do that quite well.

Thank's guys for all the quick responses. I think I'm going to go for the flashbacks, either 78 or 81 duro. I'm thinking 81a, but I'm not sure how much of a difference there will be in the two. I'm also fairly light, so maybe the 78a would be fine for me? Who knows

The powerballs look like a lot of fun too, but I feel like the flashbacks will suit me for a more versatile wheel.

The differences you find between the 78a and 81a will be subtle. Basically, the 81a's drift out a tad easier, while the 78a will grip a tad more. As a reference point for you, I am 120lb's and prefer the 81a if I want to do little stand up check slide, type stuff.

Since they are sideset they can feel a bit softer than a centerset wheel. I've ridden 78a and I'd go 81a.
