    Default sliding hot spots/avalons/cambrias

Ok im thinking of getting an apex 37 with hot spots. Does anyone know how they slide? 69mm btw probably going with purple or blue. Also, im thinking of buying avalons or cambrias for my smaller board cuz my 9balls are wearing out. Im not into long slides except for mayb toe side pendies and 180s in the same run.
    thanks in advance

I have cambrias and they do slide well, but you need to really break them in first. they chunk a little bit around the outer lip, but nothing frightening. if you were to go with the avalons, i would tell you to trim the lip if you intend to slide alot. i cant speak for the hot spots, but i will say that i love the 3dm thane.

After the cambrias are broken in do they still hav grip when ripping out hard carves?

My g/f runs blue hotspots (not sure what hardness that is i think 80 or 81a?) on her torpedo. The one thing I find though.. is they are pretty quick wheels!

So far I can't say I'm that big of a fan. I have probably about 8-10 hrs of ridding in on her board and I just find the wheels a little unpredictable. They tend to slip when i don't want them to .. and hooking back up coming out of standup powerslides can be tricky. (sometimes starts to grip on me when I feel it shouldn't yet) They are also a little chattery (but that is expected being square lipped)

Now, i'm fairly new and also ride abec freeride and zig zags.

So to sum it up.. i don't find their grip pattern as predictable as I would hope for, and for that.. they haven't gotten my seal of approval.

Get the avalons and radius them... they will slide like a dream. Even unradiused, my avilas are butter once you break traction (these are 73a, mind you!). I suspect it's the wide contact patch... I believe the choppyness of a hard-lipped wheel comes from the wheel trying to sort of roll outward, pushing the road-contacting part of the wheel in... with such a wide contact patch, the wheel doesn't want to do this as much.

Mind you, you'll get more of a drift than a slide - that much 'thane-contact will slow you down quick. Wicked smooth though.

EDIT: Don't get the new BlackOps ones... I hear they grip better = not as smooth drift
