Makin a custom board and need help with wheels and bearings!
I am making a longboard as a school project so all i have left to do is put the pattern on it. It's got this design look to it. Sector nine and it has a brown oil stain look to it so it realy brings out the grain in the wood. So i was looking at some wheels and i liked these
because they match the color along with these they're both pretty inexpensive because this is a second board for me. the problem is is that i bought the first as a complete so i dont know jack ****. I was wondering if any one could help me I need some good overall bearings that have some sped for around town but decent for bombing hills.
Thanks sorry bout the noobness

Re: Makin a custom board and need help with wheels and bearings!
of those two wheels i would reccomend the cadilacs, and as for bearings, look into biltins, ninjas, or reds8)

and seismics, i love them, some people hate them, but NO one thinks they are just okay, they take a lot of getting used to, if you know someone who has them, try riding them before you buy. if you are unsure still id say just get some randals or paris
(randals)

personaly i hate my sidewinders, they are so high, making pushing difficult and they are incredibly unstable, let alone they cant carve very good. if i were you i would get randals or paris, they are much better trucks and can be found for much cheaper.

the springs are what make seismics unique, most trucks use a bushing system, but the springs make the board turn tighter but makes them less stable. i rode my seismics at least 20 miles today, they pump like mad, they are great for getting places

Re: Makin a custom board and need help with wheels and bearings!
seismics are interesting. but randalls are more multi functional. the right bushings are all you need to make them stable at speed, or carvey as all hell, or any combination in between. believe they take less maintenance (never owned seismics but according to other people). you specifically said you would be bombing hills, 180s on 50 degree plates will hold 40+mph easy, especially when you learn how your setup rides. flip the hanger for more stability. or get some 42 degree plates and they laugh at 50mph(i know this from experience).
dont get me wrong, seismic trucks are very unique and i have nothing against them. but for your application i believe that the randalls will be better suited.
also i noticed you mentioned bearings. milehigh, bones reds, pleasure tools, VXB, mini logo, are all good bearings that are cheap.

Im guessing all the barings are the same size so all of the bearings u mentioned would fit with the cadillacs? Again sorry for all the noobness

Re: Makin a custom board and need help with wheels and bearings!
yea all those are standard and will fit any 8mm axle and any wheel i know of. not sure but i believe Cadillacs need a 8mmx8mm(diameter/width_ bearing spacer instead of the standard 8mmx10mm.
