Earthwing 62mm Slide A's (yes the mm's do matter b/c there are other versions specifically the 58mm ones that aren't nearly as good b/c they are too slidey and dont offer enough resistance for standups and also flatspot easier).

Slide A's are awesome. I got mine used and they're pretty small now, but I'll buy new ones as soon as mine die.

Do you want hard or soft wheels for sliding? And fyi...there is no "best", in relative terms.

With that being said, if you want something that LASTS, Retro Freeriders are probably what you want to look at for soft wheels.

Ok, so now that that part has been cleared up, what is it exactly do you want from your wheels? Do you want last-ability or what?

From what I can understand from your post, you want a wheel that lasts, is 78a and/or doesn't cone? Is that correct?

Not getting involved with best this and best that, and I've never been on slide a's, but you should also take a look at the orange Rainskates Tsunamis (65mm, 86a, I think) if you want a wheel that's soft enough for comfortable cruising and hard enough for slides. Love mine, and I can do things on them that my fishballs won't quite let me do.

if you're looking at tech sliding wheels, sector nine race formula is the best deal for anyone now, compared to rinskates, sergios or slide-a's. sector nine says that if you flatspot their 65mm 95a slide formula wheels, they'll shoot you a brand new set of four when you send them back.

if you still wanna go soft like you said, strikers and no skools from abec 11 are yummy.

that narrows it down quite a bit. what have you been riding? I guess I'd recommend powerballs but I don't have a lot of experience with non-Abec11 wheels. I just expect softer wheels to cone pretty quick. Have you tried lemon or orange freerides, they're a little more chattery than the powerballs but I've been surprised at how well they grip. I really dig the lemons as an all around wheel and I beat the oranges up like they're a punching bag and they hold up really well.

I have Abec Retro Freeride 86a Oranges and i thought they were sliding machines. Until today.

I used my buddy's Sector 9 Waiameia (sp?) with the Abec11 Strikers, 66m, 84a and was doing glass smooth slides with them. I'm going to buy a set for the Dervish. Strikers pwn.

I think that the best wheels for sliding on are the ones that you get on skateboards because they have a high duro and they are small.

Not really, but it can be done. Any wheel with a rounded edge will slide oodles easier than a square lip (such as orangatangs). Spend a while breaking them in nicely, and they will slide.

Hey there, you did not specify if you wanted to do tech sliding, or soft wheel sliding so I am going to list both varietys. (I'm also going to assume you are sticking with 70mm wheels)

For soft wheel sliding, it's usually good to stick with 80a+ Durometer so most wheels are decent at sliding. Most wheels claiming to be 'freeride' are also decent at soft wheel sliding. Wheels with rounded lips instead of squared ones are also meant for sliding. Here are some examples:

    Loaded Stimulus Freeride wheel:

These wheels are perfect for soft wheel sliding, they come pre-broken in so you get smooth slides right out of the box.
They are also 83a meaning they will slide well, and still grip you down enough for higher speeds. You can also find these in a 75mm version and a 65mm version.

Orangatang Stimulus Freeride Wheels 70mm 83a

    Retro Freeride 72m

You can find these in three different flavors, personally I think these are the best soft wheel sliders. Choose between 80-86a duro. The higher the duro, the better the slide; but also the less grip.

    Abec11 72mm Retro FreeRide Wheels

    Sector 9 RF

These are a really nice overall wheel, and cheap too! Once you break them in, they will grip amazingly well. Aswell as slide like butter even at a 80a duro. They come in a 70mm, 75mm and 81mm variety

Sector 9 70mm Race Wheels Set of 4

    For Tech Sliding:

    Earthwing Slide A's

If you want to tech slide, dont question it; just get these in my opinion.

    Earthwing 62mm Slide A Superballs - Set of 4

    But... next time...

Let me google that for you
