I know there's a thread about these same wheels, but I have a different use for my board so I figured I'd start a new one. I have a 48" custom board, and I just use it for getting around town. I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to longboards, so to me they both seem the same, except that the Avilas are cheaper. However, if they are crappy, then I have no problem buying the Abecs. What I'm really interested in is speed and good turning. So which wheels do you guys recommend? Are there other types that I could be interested in?
Also, my board will only hold up to 76 mm until potential wheelbiting.

I know that the white avilas guys claim they are smooth as a cadillac on a rough surface and they hold there speed wheel. If price is your concern you should consider sector 9 race formulas they come in alot of different sizes like abecs but without the high price tag.
Avilas are smoother but slower typically. also, avilas have such thin lips that they grip extremely well, but require trimming if you want to slide them at all.

I agree with S9 race formulas. They are cheap and they perform really well. I also like lime bigzigs. Never ridden avilas sos cant tell you anything about how they ride. I would say out of the S9 or bigzigs, I would get the S9 wheels.

i just swapped out a set of yellow bigs with the new white avillas black ops.
i like them a lot, can wail on them hard and they dont break traction hardly ever, grip really nice and when they start tolling they seem to go for a while, not to mention for being so soft, they have some very good speed on inclines run over anything in the process, plus i think the white looks nice.
the weight is kinda slow from starting from a stop, but once they move they move for a long time and so far makes a really good pumping wheel.
I may still throw the yellow zigs on the front and keep the avillas on the rear for a little more speed as ive never had a problem with the zigs losing traction in the front.

If you're only cruising you definitely won't notice the difference in speed. Get the avilas. I do DH with them and they treat me great.
Avilas are like a team roller over cracks.. etc.. Both are good wheels, I'd venture to say avilas have more urethane than any wheel except Momos. They are heavy due to that, but a cush ride.
And unless you are carving realllllly hard at speed the lip doesn't need trimmed like an avalon. They will last you for many many miles
