I completely agree, especially when referring to rush bearings.

That's why the people at bones bearings have really figured it out by not even given there bearings an abec rating, it's a system totally built for bearings used in larger scale machines and can't really be applied to longboarding.

I have used the Ti coated ceramic bearings, I have three sets of them. I never had a problem with them. They are very smooth and spin for a long time. I just order two sets of the all weather, once I get them I'll chime in and let you guys know. I'll compare them to the other rush bearing I have. I beleave they use the same black ceramic balls as the Ti one.

For wet weather bearings just add a tiny amount of motor assembly lube. Doesn't slow them up to much after you work it in- (spin the wheel for about a minute) and one application prevented rust for 3 months (some of which I completely submerged my board in puddles.

I know you were and again, the rush abec9's don't ride like you'd think something that's an abec9 rated bearing should ride (speed and roll length wise anyway) so that is an obvious indicator alone.

I do still recomend these bearings for rain/ice riding, I just took a board with them on there out today and it was -6*F where I was riding, rode through ice, snow, salt and they still spin like new (which isn't saying much for these guys but still)

    Very insightful page about bearings.

I didn't around to cleaning my bearings today like I planned. I'll wait another week.

In all seriousness, bearings cost very little for the big guys. Based on what I pay for modest quantities, I'd say that the heavy hitters are paying pennies per-bearing. But then again, they're paying for fancy packaging, team riders, and expensive ads in magazines.

Would ceramics take most of the worry out of riding in foul weather? Maybe a little waterproof grease and good to go?

the only completely rust free bearings are available from VXB for the low low cost of $320 a set.

I recommend buying a ton of their cheap abec 7s and cleaning/throwing them out as necessary.
