ive never ridden either, but am about to get some lemon freerides on my new legendary gnome. Personally, they seem longer lasting (which is a definite must for me), easier to slide with, and just...better. I dunno, im an abec lover.

Would love to hear opions of people who have ridden boitht though.

Go to the search function. Then type in a KEY WORD such as "otang freeride" "orangatang freeride" "retro freeride." DO NOT type in full phrases, that is an ineffective way to search. Stick to the MAIN WORDS in your question. Next select "Search titles only" directly under the seach box. Then to make it really specific, on the bottom right you will see a box that you can select what subcategories your search will be conducted in. Select the one that has to do with wheels. They are both pretty different.

Freerides are round lipped so its easier to slide with. I've also read the retros last longer due to the material that they are made out of. The round-lip would allow you to break into the slide easier since there is no lip to grip the ground.

O-tang's are lipped-wheels so its more geared towards slalom/hard carving since the lips provide a rebound action on turns. It is able to slide after the lips are worn down. There are many threads that say O-tangs wear down fast and the retros last a bit longer. When i learned to slide, I definitely felt a change when riding O-tangs 4Pres (70mm, 80a). It was smooth and it glides.

I just got S9 Race formula 70mm/80a, round-lip, but i haven't tried it out yet.

i have in-heats. there a very good slide and dh wheel. retro freerides look very good but the look only like a slide wheel. there very one dimensional.

I like the Inheats formula much better. They wear faster, but they are so predictable and when they are worn in, they are the best.

I like the freerides as well. If you gave us some idea of what you will be doing on the wheel, it would make it much easier to help you because these wheels are on two totally different ends of the spectrum. They're about as different as you can get.

ok....what?!?!?!?
retro freerides are the GREATEST all around wheel ive ever ridden. great roll speed, maintains momentum, quick acceleration, plush riding, slidable, great grip. the only thing I WOULDN'T take them on would be DH at 40mph+ through twisty runs. the lime freerides are dope for just about anything.
