    Question Malakai 40 HELP ME!

Im thinking of getting the original skateboards malakai 40 (40 mm long) for my first longboard with s8 (200 mm) trucks. Ive ridden 3 different sector nine boards of my friends from 38 mm to 47. And original skateboards torpedo 40 and apex 37. I will probably just be cruising, some carving, maybe getting up to speeds around 30 mph at tops and i want to do some sliding if i learn how. The only thing i dont like about the malakai 40 is that it has no concave so it is flat. Would i be able to learn to slide on a flat board? And for basically all riding styles would you recommend the retro zig zags 70 mm lime 83 a wheels or gravity sliders 70 mm 83a wheels. The retro zigs have lips so i dont know if ill learn to slide with them easily.

Haha 40" long brother. You don't want a 40mm long board. You could fit that sucker in your pocket. But the MKai is an awesome carver. I wouldn't get that deck for going 30mph, or sliding (not too comfy going 30+mph,) and the lack of cave makes sliding difficult. Also, original trucks will not hold up to the abuse of sliding as well as traditional longboard trucks do. If you want something that will do both of those well, I suggest the Comet FSM. You can get one for around the same price as the MKai, and if you get it with the Hybrid 215s it will be super duper carvy (probably the reason you want an original.)

yes you could slide but will it feel nice? prolly not
speeds up to 30? on original trucks? you must have some insane balance
and yes zigs can slide and they are known to be some of the best slidding lipped wheels known.
and really, anything on original trucks is hard except carving. and once your wheels get broken in, say bye bye grip. those wheels will prolly start sliding everywhere.

so basically what im trying to say.
original trucks are good but it takes time to learn on them. also, i (personally) wouldnt be going past 15mph on them.

edit: comet fsm is a great al around board. if you get it from milehighskates.com with the indy hybrid 215 trucks with sabres. your set for carving, cruising, commuting, sliding, bombing hills (yes over 30mph), and doing other really fun stuff

You can go fast on originals just gotta bother to buy some of the harder springs.
I've ridden mine a few times at 20-25 with the standard springs as well.
I wouldn't recommend the mal for you unless your going to be getting some of the harder springs as well, if you feel the need for speed. (eg. want to go bombing in the suburbs with those mates)
As well do NOT get originals abec 3 bearings they are rubbish.

well the originals arnt that hard to balance on. I remember my friend got his apex 37 and out of the box the springs were really loose. But If you tighten them alot it feels way better. O and i forgot to mention that im only 110 pounds but im not anerexic! just to inform everyone. But ya the main thing i dont like bout the malakai 40 is its flat but you can get retro zig zags of originalskateboards site for only 30 bucks with the board.
