Re: different duro wheels at front and back??
well if your doing that id think harder in the front softer in the back. so you wtill get the speed with the harder ones in the front and you get the grip with the ones in the back.
thats from a DH pov.
correct me if im wrong

Re: different duro wheels at front and back??
DHBM has it right, serch function would answer this for you.
but ill help any ways. in general a harder duro in front would make you a bit faster but not too noticeable. the rear would grip more in this setup too which could be weird for drifting.
softer in front would make the back less grippy, which can make initiating a slide easier.
personally i dont think there is an added advantage of doing this but to each his own.

i've seen this done mostly on slalom boards with zigs for wheels.
i think harder duro is at the front then softer duro at the rear. i believe the softer duro at the rear prevents the board from slipping out when doing the pumping motion for slalom.
i'm not really sure how this translates to DH though. but i've also seen some videos with this type of wheel set-up. i think it was a Colabo video.
haven't tried it coz we can't get wheels in sets of two only. always comes in sets of four.

Re: different duro wheels at front and back??
I run split duro wheels on my LDP.
You could do it on a DH board, but I wouldn't, as I it would mess with the drifting/sliding.
Boards breh:
Comet Voodoo XL (OG shape) - 50* Calibers
Carbon Surf Finish Clutch Jailbait - Crails or Paris
Incline Fro Pick - Ace 66
Comet Shred 35 - Indy 169s

Re: different duro wheels at front and back??
ya a lot of slalom guys run split duro with the higher duro in front to get a bit more speed with the traction in back. some even run the harder duro on the right/left side to get traction on either the toe or heel side, which ever one it on.
you can go even crazier and do what karrot did and have the harder duro split diagonally, so one in front and the other in back on opposite sides. i think he did this because of how his wheels wore down.
so you can always try different things and see how it works out and what you (dis-)like.

Re: different duro wheels at front and back??
Brad Edwards (and quite a few other gravity riders) used to ride with harder wheels in the back for a more 'slashy' ride. (ie: being able to kick the back out while the front still grips the line)

Re: different duro wheels at front and back??
I have also seen a guy who runs two different wheels in the same duro. Not sure what it would do, but would definitely be kind of wierd. He ran lime BZs fronts and Inheats in the back. Said he really liked it. It would give you a similar effect as the wheels have different grip and speed characteristics. I stick with one duro all around as it makes the drifts nice and predictable. Experiment and see what you like.

sounds like he wanted to get a bit more drift, and since otangs drift easier he could use the same duro with a bit more slippage in the back.

Yeah that is what he said. Seems like it would make for an interesting ride.

Re: different duro wheels at front and back??
Iv seen alot of racers do it in videos with Lime and Lemon and Pink and Lime BigZigs
Iv tried it once with a drastically different duro's and hated it(78a and like almost 90a), had the harder wheel in back and it made for a hella slidy ride which was only fun for liek 30 mins, maybe it works better if its only a tiny difference in the idk, id just keep it all the same, maybe mix colors around if they made them

Re: different duro wheels at front and back??
for DH i would run same duro all around, when it comes to sliding to control speed and speed checks different wheels can **** you up... bad, been there done that haha.
but for pumping and what not general cruising it shouldn't matter.
LDP run a softer duro in the front, to help with your grip of the pavement.
sliding you'd want to keep the same duro all around.
cruising doesn't matter. and free riding should have the same duro as well.
hope that was more helpful than my previous post.

CORRECTION:
for pumping you want the softer in the back to prevent slipage.
