I have been riding 83a Stimulus from July up till now and other than some coning they are still going strong. I slide on them but nothing techy. I use them mostly for carving since they grip nice but will drift once you hit that magic speed, which feels great. Don't hesitate to get them if you want some grip and smooth slides. They will scrub off speed too.

Now look at yours. That's called the internet. I win at it.
If i were to slide my 83a retro freerides for 6 feet at a certain speed to a hult, and i then slided the 83a and 86a otangs howmuch distance would they slide for in comparison to the retros (im looking for about double the retros).
Also i would go for pirple stimulus(the 70mm woill make them slide easier/for longer
Or yellow durians,(the larger size will provide more grip)
I think you should just buy one of them and then when you burn off the first set, try the other and see which one you like better. Not bashing on you or anything but it sounds like you want the "Perfect Wheel". That's tough to do. That is why people have extra set of wheels laying around for the type of terrain or riding you want to do that day.
I have ridden both wheels. I guess I am going to repeat what everyone else said. If you want to freeride down a hill which is super fun get the 86a. Not very much grip at high speeds but if you can control it, it's fun. As for the 83a ones, grip when you want it, slide when you want it. Yeah they grip more and I do think they will wear faster then 86a of course. Also going to be harder to do stand ups with 83a compared to 86a.
Take your options, weigh them out, and pick a wheel and go shred.
78a Flashbacks have been my favorite so far. Slide FOREVER once they get coned but still lose speed. Smoothest and most controllable soft sliding wheels I've ridden (against Race Forms, Powerballs, 83a Stimulus, 80a/83a Retro Freerides, 78a Strikers). They're not incredibly durable, and I've almost killed mine after about 3 weeks of riding, but I was so hooked on them at first I was out on hills for 3-4 hours a day almost 2 weeks (summer's sweet). Also, they're cheaper than most wheels and you might be able to find them locally.
Yeah! I've had mine for a year only did big slides for the past few months and they are smooth. They were my first wheels, so it's like as if I broke them in for 8 months and they are so good although it showed signs of coning on the first few weeks of sliding them.

Get more lemons and go faster? I've got lemons freerides on my derv too and I love it for standies and hand-down. They are kinda grippy at lower speeds, but on the right pavement they are pretty fun. I threw them on d-dub's loki during a sesh a little while back. I can honestly tell you I think it's the most fun I've ever had on a longboard. at like 25+ they just turn to butter when you put 'em sideways, but the hook-up is predictable and you still scrub speed nicely.
