Speed Vents vs Zigs
Has anyone compared the two? I searched but barely found anything comparing these 2 wheels. I saw one post saying vents slide out to early and another saying they grip more Im talking 73mm vents vs bigzigs or zigzags.

Re: Speed Vents vs Zigs
Vents are very fast, Bigzigs are very fast.
Vents grip a lot, Bigzigs grip a lot.
Vents ride roughly, Bigzigs ride smooooooth
So yeah, get bigzigs.

Well, if it's the 85mm speed vents your talking about, I can't disagree. Those things kick ass.

Re: Speed Vents vs Zigs
Speedvents in the 73mm flavor have a large core and less thane depth. They provide a stiffer ride than a comparable Zig.
-
Re: Speed Vents vs Zigs
large core = lighter and more nimble too?

larger core is slower acceleration, higher speed retention. for that size get the bigzigs, if you wanted to go larger on the speedvents, then i would recommend those hands down. im a speedvent fan anyway.

Maybe theorecically...My setups are completely different, decks, trucks, bushings and haven't swapped wheels often enough to really form an opinion other than the stiffness of the ride.
I like both but do minimal sliding/drifting and typically am carving in the 20's-30's.

Re: Speed Vents vs Zigs
Does the "higher speed retention" work well with flatground & pushing speeds too? Ive heard the 85mm vents dont grip well (small contact patch) and dont slide well so they're not too great for anything except cruising

Re: Speed Vents vs Zigs
Speed vents are very grippy wheels, regardless of size.
Flywheels on the other hand...

Larger core means the opposite. Faster acceleration, lower mass, less inertia, less speed retention. Larger cores also mean smoother slides. I'm not a fan of big zigs, but have never ridden speed vents. I'd recommend s9 RF in 74mm, either duro.
