the wheels are pretty good... I'm still working on my standup slides and I'm not too good at them but I think these are the bomb for that kind of stuff. really fun to ride. they will make speedchecks and slides a lot easier no doubt but I still have to work on my skills to enjoy them properly. got them a couple weeks ago and I'm injured so... got to catch up later.

despite not having ridden them extensively I can say I like them a lot better than every other similar wheel I tried before (powerballs, freerides, strikers).

what surprised me the most is that they still ride smooth and confortable for a 86a/70mm wheel. they have a really plushy roll. I was afraid they were going to be too hard for the rough pavement I usually ride. another thing that was a surprise was how silently they slide.

there is still a lot of grip in them if you put weight on your trucks right they will still grip and corner efficiently. it's not like they will have thoughts of their own and surprise you with slippages. you have lots of control whether you want to grip or let them loose. still I wouldn't recommend them for any speedboard-type riding.

They are great! They really are sweet for standies. For handsdown i like a softer, grippy wheel (since its more realistic for DH scenarios). I'm all ready better at speed checks and 180's. Now its time to learn some switch 180s.

Because I have never seen a man can stand slide smoothly in slowly speed without Orangatang.

Great wheel, you'll forget you're riding on 86a.

Got mine down to about 64mm currently - the inside lips are now razor sharp, but they still slide pretty nicely. Like any offset wheel they cone fairly easily, but if you rotate every few sessions they wear acceptably.

Wouldn't buy again though - going with 70mm centerset RF's next time.

hm ive been up in the air about trying the new 86a stims or the new 82a 70mm round RF. think you just helped me decide on the race forms, i loved my 70mm round 80a to death. purpstims were a faster wheel though.

I know this is an old thread but I don't wanna start a new one just for this question. Does anyone know if these wheels are slower than most wheels? I've heard rumors that they go really slow down hills.

That depends on the surface. If it`s rough, I find them to be very slow. But, when smooth, they are fast.
If your area is full of crappy asphalt, I would have get something softer. I think the purple83a are a more versatile wheel.

Yes; they will be much louder and more choppy. Get venom tweakers.

They're way too chattery and choppy for me, i didn't really like them but that was just my opinion. Abec 11 classic thane slid best for me and cult classics

Well you heard wrong. I have stims and I don't really like them. They're not the quietest when just riding and even louder and choppier when sliding. Not the best slide characteristics either. And this is in 83a, so the 86a will be like that except louder and choppier. I've tried those too and I'm not a big fan of either. So stoked for the Metro Motions waiting under the tree tomorrow!

great wheel, but i still have my doubts. i love them for easy 180s and i am working on my stand ups, but even when im cruising i still feel like they can slip right out from under me. ive had a few instances where i can feel my wheels slide out just a bit when im turning, which is a bit unsettling, but overall they are alright good choice

Okay, so i got these wheels... and i found this completely crazy having my hopes up and all for these wheels, they are terrible. i thought maybe getting a harder wheel would improve my sliding but no. these wheels don't even allow me to do a simple 180 because they are so chattery! about the only thing these are good for, is lay-down slides and quick speed checks... that's it. go with the 80a stims or 83a stims.... or someother wheel. not these. save yourself now, before your face eats pavement because of bad slide characteristics. i kind of wish o tang would give me the 83 to replace these terrible wheels.

They don't get some othet wheels, or atleast 80a otangs.
Switch your indy kingpin for a longer one to fit all bushings. Change your stock bushings. You don't need precision trucks. There is no best wheel for sliding. You need to go faster. Don't buy Gullwing Sidewinders. Don't ever pay more than $10 for bearings. Practice more. Support local builders.

If you weigh like over 200lbs, they all leave thane lines. My friend has 86a stims and they leaves thanes.
