Options for 9.5mm ID 28mm OD bearings?
The MBS stainless bearings I got for my mountainboard wheels seem to be kind of cheaply made and impossible to service without damaging the metal shields that keep dirt out of the bearings. Not to mention, it doesn't seem like you can take them completely apart. I prefer skate style bearings that I can tear apart ball by ball and really clean up (takes a while, but I like my bearings clean).
Anyone know where to get a better set of 9.5mm inner diameter 28mm outer diameter bearings. I googled the size, all that comes up are MBS bearings. Their non-stainless bearings are much cheaper price wise and look more conventional, so I might try those. What I'm really after is a set of bearings built like normal skate bearings that can be serviced normally and have rubber seals that you can actually pull off without destroying.

I think your best bet would be to go for some 10mm x 28mm bearings and shim your axles if neccesary. Here's the VXB link:

hi,
i had a similar problem, i was looking for alternatives for the MBS 9.5mm inner diameter 22mm outer diameter 7mm thickness.
( i have Vector Pro Ti trucks with the 9.55mm axles, and Atom wheels that take the 22mm outer diameter bearing. the good thing about those bearings is that you can experiment with many other wheels, since 22mm is a very common fit for skateboard wheels as well as inline skate / scooter wheels. i'll write something about my experiences with various wheels in this thread. )
it took me a while to figure out that the bearing measures are actually inch sized.
the inner diameter (9.525 mm) is 3/8 inches, the outer diameter (22.225 mm) is 7/8 inches, and the thickness (7.144 mm) is 9/32 inches.
with those measurements, there's plenty of choice at www.vxb.com
i'm almost certain that the 9.5mm x 28mm x 7mm bearing measurements you are looking for (presuming that's the thickness you need; i've never used other MBS wheels than the Atom ones, i don't what thickness the other hubs take) translate to 3/8" x 1 1/8" x 9/32"
however, with those measurements, i found nothing at www.vxb.com, who do have a massive selection.
there are 3/8" x 1 1/8" x 3/8" (approx. 9.5mm x 28mm x 9.5mm thickness) bearings if that helps.
apparently, the 3/8" x 7/8" x 9/32" (approx. 9.5mm x 22mm x 7mm) bearing is quite common. hope you can find the size you're looking for.
if you get into trying other wheels on your MBS trucks, let me know
here's a rough guide for figuring out mm's to fractions of inches. fe. 28 mm -> 25mm plus 3mm -> 1" plus 1/8"

was talking slightly rubbish there.
yes, the inch measurements are quite close, but the MBS 22mm OD ones i have are pretty much exactly 22mm.
this means that while the ID and width of the inch-measurement bearings won't really be a problem, the slight difference in OD may mean trouble, with many wheels having quite tight slots for bearings.
more details here.
