Re: Scammed by Bones
Funny enough, a 6 Ball bearing is actually CHEAPER to produce than a 7 ball... Interesting business.

Re: Scammed by Bones
I'm struggling to realise how they can use bigger balls and not increase the space between the races and making the bearing wither to small to fit on the axle or to big to fit in the wheel hub.

I like the 6balls (slightly higher top end, easier to clean), but the Redz are a good second.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! bones swiss are not made in switzerland.....
whats that? you mean you used your own mind power to discover that the hype was not true? oh my god, just imagine what will happen if that trend continues across humanity and is applied to more things than skateboard stuff..... EVOLUTION!!!!
we will continue to be fed bullshit for as long as we keep sucking it up and believing in it. the moment we dont, once we start to ignore the great beast of advertising and marketing claims, and use our diescernment and intelect, the advertising marking beast has no power over us. No power.
think about it, if a product is that good, it doesnt need masses of cash poured into marketing, because it sells itself. Im always weary of anything that is marketed too much, its probably crap.

Re: Scammed by Bones
Wrong Rivers, Powell Swiss bearing are made at the WIB factory in Switzerland.
I imaging all the other are made in china.
I work in the bearing industry and we come across a lot of of interesting stuff in regards to where stuff is made. NKE from Austria buy balls and unfinished races from china and do the final and finishing assembly at the Steyr factory in Europe.
The is still a bearing manufacturing in Europe, believe it not. Just no 608, except for WIB Swiss.
As for Chinese bearing, good enough. However can wear out faster as tolerances are not really there. Maybe they will sort the balls into 2 different sizes (regardless of ABEC) whereas a Japanese/European brand will sort into 5 different sizes. This means that can get good bearings AND bad from China from the same packet.
BTW, most 608's are for fans and cheap electric drills etc. Soon China will be too expensive, India next!

Why do you think you are so smart? You are just ignorant. Its illegal and improper for Bones to market bearings as swiss made if they are really made in China, WHICH THEY ARE NOT
Bones is legit. The bearings rock. I rode my swiss precisions 1000 miles through 14/27 days of rain and storms. Only 1 bearing siezed up during the entire trip without any relubing.

+1 to this Ogre! A very simple search of the fish would quickly take you to MHS or Reds. The unfortunate thing is that many skaters buy the wrong equipment for their cause because they forget to research both the good AND bad of a product, now days people simply jump onto a website that tells them something's way better and they take the company's word for it and stop their research there. It only takes about five more minutes to get back to the fish (or anywhere else where you will hear two sides to a product) and do a well educated search. Now, the OP is stuck with the wrong product, has paid too much for too little return...And has spent MUCH more time then the time it takes to become more educated up front. Not trying to make the OP mad, just trying to show others how to save time and money easily on the front end.

Re: Scammed by Bones
You know what, Swiss 6 balls are actually nicer bearings than any of the cheaper Chinese made bearings mentioned in this thread.
However 99% of the skaters who buy them, buy them because they think they will make them go faster, or feel quicker, or have higher top end speed blah blah...that's all a load of poo.
I have found that Swiss made Bones stand up to abuse better, meaning the elements, sliding etc..If you are the kind of person who cleans bearings rather than discard, they are are a good investment. They will last more cleanings than a $6. no name bearing.
But if your intention is to install them, beat the hell out of them then throw them out, they are a total waste of money. Get something cheaper like Rush bearings, or MHS, or Pleasure Tool.
You will not notice the difference when riding them.
