    Default Flywheels

I need to know any info from anyone who owns abec 11 101mm 75a wheels. Are they durable? Do they ride smooth at high speeds and not wobble? do they keep you going for longer? Im checking into buying some and i just need to know how they ride and if they are actually worth the money. Also anyone who owns 92mm 78a wheels any info would be great.

i've got a set (101's)and they are a good wheel but you need some weight on them to get the best out of the thane....they are no good for fast getaways if you're thinking of racing with them but can take high speeds without any fuss at all as the core keeps bearing heat down...put your finger on a bearing after a high speed run and you'll see what i mean....they are hard to break slide especially weight over and you have to know your slides at high speeds or you will eat dirt as they grip again in milliseconds chunking back into the contact patch...nice wheel but a bit big for a longskate...

...unless you have a masively large board that can take the size, such as a Jam Board (80 inches).

well i have a flexdex pro 60. Its 60 by 10 inches,. Another question, Do they keep you going longer than smaller wheels?? I bomb hills a lot and i like when the board just keeps going for a long time. Plus i like to cruise, but same concept.

yes they have quite a small contact patch compared to other wheels and a low rolling resistance....the circumference per 10mm extra means the bearing rolls 4 times slower which means the performance of the bearing is enhanced and less chance of bearing blow (i forget the formula for it) big wheels roll longer and smoother but the shape is everything ie scooter wheels are quite big and have a really low contact patch but are crap for bombing hills whereas the circumference of the big abecs and kryps constantly throws the wheels out of the deformed contact patch with inertia and thus roll longer

if you're going to get ABEC 11 wheels, get the 70's Flashbacks or the 74mm flywheels*.

Are the 83's and bigger not made as good as the 74's or somethin? Because i have 78a 70mm kryptonics and im wantin to go quite a bit bigger. I dont really carve a whole lot or anything on my board i just basically bomb hills in a straight line and cruise down straight roads. I think what im gonna do is go for the 92mm 78a flywheels. 101 seems just a bit too big, plus they are cheaper. Thanks for all the info.

yeah well if its not the 92's itll be the 83's im sure they will BOTH be very fun, but im addicted to speed and i think the 92's will enable me to top out faster and roll longer, and with my swiss super 6's that are on the way in the mail  my flexdex pro 60 will be a cruisin bombin machine.

I have a Pro 60. I agree... it's a nice cruiser. Loves to bomb hills in a straight line, and it carves pretty good too.

    Default 101 Flys

Does your 60" board have wheel cutaways ?
(allowing for such large wheels and no bites)
*THIS IS KEY FOR USING 101mm FLYS*
If not, I strongly suggest nothing over a 83mm Fly.
Also what trucks are you using? Being that: 101mm
(and all Abec flywheels) are centered set hubbed wheels
You will want to be cruzing on atleast Randal 180s w/flywheels

Also someone suggested ABEC 11 70sFlashbacks.
Great wheels (my everyday wheels) when not in comps.
I think the 101s are well over priced for the amont of Thane
(urathane) on the hub. For the price might I suggest 92mm
Flywheels. These ROCK! w/lots of thane to chusion anything you
might run over. And will last ALONG time If your (as stated)
making straight downhill runs. I also use 83mm Flys probably
the best upgrade wheel for the price. (Fast & lots-O-Thane!)

One more important factor.......60" deck ?
If your REALLY into speed my obessesion
You need to look at the entire wheel base(WB) of your deck
The lenght(L) from axel to axel.
Might I STRONGLY suggest you buy another deck designed
    for stable fast bombing.
Your wheel base should be between 31 to 34" MAX
I have found that my personal desired WB to be 32.5"
Thats a stability perfect ride (atleast to me)
    160lbs add 10lbs (leather suit) + 2lbs helmet.

I have rode decks over 44" w/ WB of 37" I tend to get more
Speed Wobbles (SW) with longer WB. I would DEFINATLY get
a board made for your addiction before mounting up on a 60" carver.
although your results (due to your weight/height & riding style)
may differ. Im just stating You will never see me at high speeds
(50mph+) on a 60" deck just the idea scares the hell out of me!!!
Like I said: "It might work for you?"

and I hate to sound like your ol' wood shop teacher BUT~
Safty 1st! If your gonna seriously bomb (40+mph) get a full
face helmet and leathers (if you can afford them) atleast knee pads
    and slider gloves.

If you have any questions (post them here)
    or drop me an email.

NOTE: Pics seen on my website are me cruzing on my 44" Bozi
***THIS IS NOT MY COMPITION DECK*** its a carver
My speed decks are custom made for speed downhill runs.
NEVER WOULD I ATTEMPT 45+mph ON A STOCK LONGBOARD
(Jeff Gordon wouldnt attempt 180mph in a stock Monte Carlo)
Good Karma, on a Fast SK8

Well i hit 40 today downhill and there were no speed wobbles even to think of. The thing is, this deck is so big, and its totally flat, and i have my randal 180's completely tightened as tight as they will go and i feel totally confident and safe and stable on this longboard. Maybe you had a bad experience or somethin but this thing works perfect for me. Oh, by the way im 5'9 and 160 lbs. I actually feel more scared riding small boards now because i feel more vulnerable to speed wobbles, and im not turning or carving at all and i have 70mm kryptonic wheels on it with 1/4" risers and i cant even get the wheel within about an inch or so to board when i turning as tight as i can. This board is strictly for bombing in straight lines and i dont really think im gonna have to worry wheel bite for what i do, plus it sounds like you are a professional and thats cool if you can get your custom built to your exact specifications, but for a 15 year old kid bombing hills out in the country (yes the roads are smooth as butta) im not really gonna worry too much having my downhill boards custom built. I mean, the board i have, thats what its built for. thanks a lot though the info might be helpful later

Oh by the way, is the bozi 44" bomber the type of deck you are talking about, with the 31-34" wheel base and good for fast stable bombing? Im looking into other longboards at the moment and it sounds like you know what your talking about, and you obviously own one, so if you could elaborate a bit on the board that would be really helpful!!

Also, there are no actual wheel cutouts on my board, but there are indentions halfway or a bit more into the board, but the trucks sit high enough with the risers so given with 7 cm wheels with the trucks totally cranked, the 9 cm wheels would actually only be one centimeter closer to the board, only adding 1 cm to each side. Now, of course im only using basic logic here, there may be something im forgetting so maybe someone needs to correct me here. Thanks a lot sorry for the long posts.

i ride my randles so loose that they have a turning radius of 6-8feet and i put on the 92mm flywheels with i inch risers and it just keeps the wheelbite away. A may add 1/8 to 1/4 more

This seems to be a bug in this version of phpbb. I've only been able to duplicate it by getting on to the forum; getting timed out; then trying to post; it will let you post, but as guest.

If you had a different experience, how about PM me?
