One of the most underrated wheels on the market.

Sometimes you get more for what you pay....I'd say that expression would apply nicely to flashbacks.

Best bang for your buck wheel-wise.

In 78a or 81a, slides nicely and smoothly with a good amount of grip.

Probably my favorite all-around wheel I have tried.

If I were more interested in sliding than gripping, would the 84a thane be a good idea?

I'd go with 81a, they are plenty slippery.

I tried 78a and they slid alot, but not as much as a 80a otang which slide waaaay too much for me. I'm 100 pounds. But depending on how much you weigh, the 84 or even 81a would be good.

Dont worry 81 is the best mix imo! But if you want alot of slide maybe look at retro freerides? I heard they are funs to!

I think the flashback shape offers the best combination of good grip, butter smooth sliding and hookups. I love them for downhill freeriding with lots of predrifting/pendys, (for racing i prefer cult gamma rays - super fast and the grippiest wheel ive ever ridden and ive tried most - centrax are the only reputed uber grip wheel that comes to mind that i havent tried), they (flashies) are my favorite wheel for steep downhill carving where you often have to rip a standy or pendy to control speed. (For flatland i prefer otang 4presidents - way faster, imho very similar slide characteristic but more expansive so not really worth it if you know your gonna kill them in 3 sessions down 20% + roads where wheel speed is the least of my concerns).

72a - the most awesome wheel ever made (that is if you didnt have to pay for them). unfortunatly also the wheel that wears out faster than any other ever made (80a otangs are immortal compared to these)- imho you actually feel (felt) the thane peeling off every slide. visibly shrink a few mm after every run. Faster than you could believe 72a thane can be. (un)fortunatly not produced any more.

75a superb grip, butter smooth slides when broken in, nice plush ride. however also wear out too fast to be reasonable.

78a imho the best choice. slide just as smooth as 81a but grip more and have a more plush ride. Maybe is just because im only 120 pounds but i also feel theyre a tad faster than 81a.

81a common popular choice, similar to 78a, I however prefer 78a.

84a totally agree with jeremyheuser. Never actually skated 84a classic green abec 11 thane long enough to make a founded comment on slide characteristics but theyre alot slower than the rest of the classic green lineup

88a never actually skated these but i know quite a few fellows whose opinons i respect that swear there is no better sliding wheel.

Other good soft longboard wheels that slide nice that you should consider:

whole otang lineup, whole earthwing lineup, gravity drifters and higrades, Flywheels (esp the ones with the old core) Powerballs, Retro freerides and many more that didnt just come to mind

I'm 130 lbs and if I ever kill my 78a's I'll buy another set. I use these wheels all time time, and throw on zigs if I need grip.

    Flashies are wonderful wheels!
I have had sets in at least two duro's 78a.81a and they do most everything well.
A very underrated wheel. a good value and long lasting with good wear properties.

I agree with this post till the last part. Most people I know use these wheels have a problem with coning. As long as you rotate you'll be alright; but coning is inevitable.

At this point you should have it clear that flashies are awesome wheels.

coning isn't a bad thing......it actually makes it easier to slide. which is why flashbacks rule.
