    Default Cult Wheels?

Ok i know the orange deathrays are the slide wheels, and the blue gamma rays are the grippy wheels, but I'm curious from those who have ridden both how the compare, are they pretty different or is it hard to tell the difference?

How is the grip on the gamma rays, is it really grippy through all the corners, ect?
And with the deathrays, are they grippy enough to stick corners one broken in or coned, basically when they have a buttery slide are they still grippy?

Give me your reviews and opinions, thanks!

Actually they are both RACE wheels. So dont misunderstand the term 'slide' yes the orange ones are slidey, but only in terms that it doesnt have the killer high torque grip of the Blues.

The Cult death ray and gamma ray, are DH race wheels. Designed exactly for that, by people that do it. They are not a slalom wheel adopted for DH, nor a all round wheel that is just good enough for racing. They are purpose built.

The Blue ones are super grippy, dont underestimate it! But they dont have that sudden release of grip like other high grip wheels, they still have a great drift (like all Cult wheels) I use the Blues on course where there is no sliding to do, and you want maximum exit speeds out of corners.

The orange ones are all round tip top. Yes they keep their grip after you break them in, I prefer broken in wheels for DH anyway, and the orange Cult wheels are still capable of surprising amounts of grip. I lent some to a grom at a race last year, he said the Coned Cults I had lent him where grippier than his brand new bigzigs.

The reason I dont ride anything else but Cult now, is that they are that good. but read some reviews, they all say the same thing, and its true.

this. I run oranges on my hellcat and am about to put blues on my supermodel. very nice wheels.. my only wish would be if they were to make a 69mm (racing) wheel so as to be a better fit for topmounts... that would be killer.

HOw can anyone answer that question? if they are broken in and coned, then they have been slid. Even when you have worn them down to about 60mm they still have enough grip to hold a line.

I would say you loose the mega traction factor once you break the entire surface in, but even then, you still have more grip than you think you are gonna get.

However, the Cult urethane is amazing stuff. And will do whatever you want it to do. YOu want it to grip, it grips, you want a little drift, it drifts, you want a snappy speedcheck, you got it.

Dont understand the comment about wanting a smaller size for topmounts though, I ride a topmount and been using Cult wheels for as long as they have been around. never had a problem. Neither do any of my topmount riding mates. they are only 72mm wich is not exactly big.

I agree w/ you for the most part but a 68ish MM cult would be great for wheel bite prone top mounts such as the mystery model and voodoo doll. I won't run my 72 cults on ANY of my top mounts 'cause they're too big. Great wheels ,though. Great fun on my Comet Loki Flush.

Honestly, i feel like it was a fair question. The wheel is sold as a downhill wheel with nice drifts, so i was asking after it had been drifted/slidden was it still a nice slide, whats the harm in that?!

Your question didn't make sense. "Have they been slidden?" I'm sure a slide has been performed on every variety of longboard wheel invented. that being said...

I LOVE MY BLUE CULTS! Today was my first day on them and they are noticeably faster than my otangs or zigs. Did a run on otangs, my friend on zigs: We were neck and neck at the bottom. I switched on my cults, everything else the same. I walked away from him. So much faster. I've never noticed such an obvious difference in roll speed, except for wheels that are very slow, like kryptos or something. RAD RAD RAD

Has anyone tried the blues for slalom? Any thoughts on whether theyd be suitable for GS?

Dominik Kowalski tells me the Blue cults are good for GS. I dont slalom, so I have no idea. I would be surprised, as the wheel is not designed for slalom, but you never know. Try em and find out.

I run Green Cults on my Mystery Model with Cindrich 200mm hangers (elims all around) with no risers and no bite. It's the sickest ####### combo.
