    Exclamation New Longboard and wheels/bearing sound?

    Hey everyone I just bought the longboard and from the first trip I hear a weird noise from the wheels...some metal noise..I am thinking its bearings..bearings are Bones Super and..I also purchased Bones Speed Cream...maybe I should apply it? (I just thought it was supposed to be applied because I got my board at Bustin Boards where they build it at the spot?!)

    a metal noise huh...
    maybe loose hardware?
    maybe a loose bearing?

    it's not the noise of new wheels on pavement right?

    i can almost 100% guarantee you dont need to lube your bearings.
    bones are amazing bearings and supers are up there on the list.

    *edit* what board did you get from bustin?

    Yea most bearings come lubed from the factory so you should be good there. Do you have bearing spacers? If you do and your wheels are loose they make rattley noises. Oh and welcome to silverfish!

    Does it happen only when you're going straight, but stop when you turn? If so, that could be your bushing washers vibrating. Tighten down your KP a smidge.

    Check all your mounting hardware, and your axle nuts.

    I got the strike one...and it's usually the sound if the road isn't clean with little stones or things...then I can here some metal clanking sound...I always thought that sound appaers when you ride the board for a pretty long time and bearings just get worn out?!?

    Thanks for Welcoming and I think there are spacers...because on one of BustinBoards videos on Youtube they wrote "Since now we are putting spacers" and that was at the end of 2009

    rattle/thunk/tinny.. need more assplanation, but yeah.. tighten everything up and tweak your KP nut tighter a smidge, when trucks are not weighted, they may seem tight, but when you stand on it, it compresses the bottom bushing and can cause slack, allowing the washer to rattle.

    edit: the KP nut is the one going through he hanger and bushings

    KP = kingpin, the big bolt in your trucks that holds everything together
    Smidge = little bit

    So you tighten the kingpin a little bit (assuming that's the problem).
