    Default Keeping up/wheel fit...?

So I finally met up with a few ottawa longboarders, and suffice to say they are way faster than I am. But in some cases, they are significantly faster in places where I should be keeping up (like running a straight line down the top floor of a parking garage). The general consensus was that I need larger wheels (currently running on some ~65mm 78a wheels (blanks)). The bearings are unlikely to be a problem because I've got fairly new, clean ones (amphetamine 8-balls ), but the majority of the others were running some 'scooter replacement' bearings...

So the first question is, do you agree with the consensus? Does matt need bigger wheels?

Second off, I'm going to be making an order for some new Randals (180's) and some wheels from Mile High, assuming you agree with the above... and I'm wondering what size I can run without wheelbite and with reasonable risers... I've got a sector 9 concave pintail (with wheel wells), that is currently set up with a 1/8" riser on some CORE longboard trucks (7" hanger, 9" axles) which are Indy copies... I think the Randals will put the top of the wheel a little closer to the center of the wheel well though, right now it hits about 1/4 of the way in.. (when the trucks are too loose... )

My personal preference is leaning towards the ABEC-11 77mm strikers in 81a... but I'd prefer not to ride an inch of riser if possible

72mm Pink Powerballs are great wheels, and not overly tall. Check 'em out.

Any thoughts on whether the strikers will fit with risers? I'm a little concerned that I won't be able to keep up even with 72mm's (there were atleast 1 set of 97mm flywheels... ) I know I couldn't fit those, but I'd like to be able to keep up a bit better, atleast on the straights...

...plus I've got a local source on some mystery 72mm's, but if I buy some strikers I'd be more inclined to order them with some randals, so that I can get the shipping fees over with, so to speak (damn kanuckistan shipping rates... )

You could probably get Strikers in there.

Mark: Any idea how long it takes for your shipments to make it to ottawa, ontario? (roughly?) ...I think I'm gonna be placing an order real soon...

    Thanks,

    Matt

should fit fine. randall's run a bit higher than regular trucks. I'd hazard a guess at just under a half an inch taller than my indy style trucks from eyeball guessing.

keep in mind orders take longer now from the States to Canada, due to the Customs xraying and opening 85% of the packages.... I paid for next day delievery for some auto parts (paid dearly too...90 bucks) and it still took three weeks.....

ouch, thats rough.... ...my last order from the states got through alright... ...maybe that was because it was some "$10" kneepads and it wasn't in a box though... (the kneepads weren't ten bucks, and I didn't even ask for that, but I didn't mind at all... )

...it just seems so silly, when I can drive things in less time than that, how airmail can take longer (no offence meant to Mark here, just a general rant against the system...) ...just ridiculous...

...ahh well, it'll give me something to look forward to, as the package should arrive during the first full week of school ...just when I need some cheering up...

I believe the Canadian postal system is privatized, which slows things down. Stuff that I ship to the UK, OZ/NZ, etc, often gets there quicker than to Canada.

Great! ...I've actually got some 1/4" risers coming with the trucks and wheels too, so even if I get a little bit of bite, I should be able to correct it with the larger risers, or some stacking

...now I just gotta try to keep up tonight... (of course, a session had to be scheduled the day before my package is supposed to be here, right? )
