flashback,gumball,and grippin wear
of flashbacks, gumballs, and grippins, which one wears the slowest, or are they all similar? i will be carving pretty hard, so take coning into account, and the fact that grippins can be reversed. basically i want to know which wheels i could ride the longest before having to buy a new set.

In the same durometer, they will wear pretty much the same except that the different lip designs will wear a little differently at the edges. Of course, the Gumballs are the largest, so you have more material to wear off...
The Flashies are sideset, so they will cone over time, the Gumballs are off-set, so they'll cone a little less but will do it, and the center-set Grippins will probably wear the most quickly of the three at their edges, but can be flipped to address coning, of course.
For hard carves and etc... the Grippins are the bomb, and the Gumballs will also be quite good, particularly over rough surfaces. The Flashbacks are just the world's best all-around wheel.

and if theyre soft... you can chunk out

I have only chinked my flashbacks ONCE on an extremely rough road. If you want your wheels to last longer get Grippins in a harder duro. They will still ahve the grip of a softer wheel in the same duro....or that's what I hear at least. I have 75a and they chunk like crazy.

I actually own all three in soft duro's, and I slide and ride them all really hard. Flashies are sweet, but they are like cheese. They cone and chunk to a point and then stop and stay that way. Gumballs chunk more than flashies and cone less. Grippins i swear hardly wear at all. They have been ridden hard, slid, carved, etc, and they still look great. I haven't even reversed them. Grippins roll like pros, best grip out of the three as well.

I skate 88a grippins, and with the lip design, they grip about as good as my 75a sec9 9 balls... which isnt saying much. But they have worn really well for a non radiused edge, and even when i have to slide for safety, they dont chunk or cone at all. The flashbacks are good wheels, but they cone too fast for my tastes, and i am not fond of offset wheels.

i have a set of 75a gumballs that i use on the rough roads near my house...been skating those for days and i cant see the slightest sign of coning. they grip real well and they speed up very nicely...they are also one of the smoothest rides i have ever felt

I have the 75a Grippins. They chunk a little bit. I would get 81a. They will still grip better then most 75-78a wheels.

go 75a, u want all the grip u can get with originals, or, if u like to shed off speed on ur carvin runs, u could go 78a, which i used to use, just push real hard, and slide a bit to lose speed, works great, and no chunkage
