If they're the ones I'm thinking of, save your dough! They are very slick and very hard. Most wheels from the 70's were severely lacking in the rebound department. They were substantially better than steel or composition, but they don't compare to modern wheels.

51mm does not sound like a 70's wheel.

If you're buying them for nostalgia or for a wall hanger, go right ahead. If you wanna use 'em, there's better ways to spend $25 plus shipping. If you want old school looking wheels that are actually good and rideable - get ABEC 11 Bertz, or 3DM Cambrias in Road Rider-ish red

Those "road rider" Cambrias are seeming hard to get. I don't know if that was just one pour, or what the deal is, and I fear I may have missed the boat.

the ones I was talking about are just the regular red 74a Cambys, they look slightly RR-ish, no?

nah, ive checked both out, the bertz arent wide enough, and the cambrias are ugly looking, and from the looks of em, they look like horrible wheels.

you just instantly proved how judging wheels by appearance is counter-productive...
Hate to be a douche, but you just turned down sound advice that would have saved you the experience of buying crappy wheels. Purchasing skate gear by looks might help you get some action from some insanely small margin of women that like to judge men by skate gear or something, but your ride will be less then enjoyable. However, first hand experience is often the best tutor...
Having said that, and being a bit of a prick, I really suggest the cambrias... you won't regret it.

Okay, then my advice to you is buy $hitty wheels like the Pro Stars - enjoy!

Those wheels weren't even good in their day. I remember them but couldn't tell you how they rode. I know they were pretty much wheels that came on completes. Certainly something no one in the know would search out a buy.
They were crap in their day and I would imagine sitting around for over twenty five years hasn't helped.
Save your cash. I did see some sweet Sims Comps on ebay while looking at those. Pricey but if you have a old school jones it would still be a better deal than some Pro Stars.

ha, im not buyin any skate equip. on the basis of coolness or anything, and expecially not on whether or not girls are gonna like it, in fact, i dont know any girls who think skateboarding is even cool, much less longboarding, cmon. Secondly, i do want wheels that are good, but i also want good lookin wheels, the kind of skatin i do is based 100% on style, so i want styled wheels, plus, if im riding a 70's style board with 70's style trucks, wouldnt i want 70's style wheels?

Well the bottom line is they're going to be YOUR wheels. If that's what you would like then by all means buy them.
But if that's the case then you really shouldn't come to a forum and ask for "any input" then be put-off by people telling you there's other alternatives that would work/perform much better.
Buy them. Enjoy......... or maybe not.
