it's not that unusual as long as they are not too big.
The sage, Longboard Buddha once said, "A tree spends 100% of its lifetime in a static environment and only after its reincarnation as a deck is it allowed to move at fast speeds...
when allowed, the wood will give thankless service if
    allowed to flow."

the bubbles in yours are about the size of say the tip of a ballpoint pen right?

    okay cool, thanks.

does it happen in all wheels?

i heard about it happening from streetboardz or whatever that internet site was, but i got these from daddies board shop in portland.

what causes them? just imperfections in the molds?

It just happens. I would venture a guess that most of the bubbles are on the inside of the wheel? Most of the imperfections usually are because that's the end that sets up when they are being poured. Since the backside is highest the bubbles will rise to that side.

Which is good since the backside of the wheel is least seen and takes less abuse than any of the other sides.

But an air bubble can occur anywhere. As long as it's not too big don't worry.

yeah, they are inside the wheel, not on the very top surface, but they are visible through the part that comes in contact with the ground. contact patch i believe its called?

As long as they're not too big, and not too close to the surface, it should be OK to skate them. If you start to notice anything further, ABEC11 has excellent customer service (or if you got them from Mile High, we'll get them replaced for you).

ride em, grind em, slide em and wear them down past the bubble, then buy new wheels anyway

It's pretty hard to find set of wheels without at least a few of those small bubbles, and they're fairly insignificant, so no worries.
