Default Cheap Bearings? Flying Capy's? What To DO!

I got a wackload of random bearing with no way to remove the outer shield, so far as I can tell I can't clean 'em.

Other than using them to sling shot flying capy's out of the sky anyone have any suggestions?

Any way to revitalize them without removing the shields?

there should be a thin clip just near the shield. use a dental pick, fish hook etc to pry one end of the clip out, then hold the clip and pull it out carefully.

i had a set of bearings that had no way to clean them, so i soaked them for a week in some bearing lubricant...when i pulled them out, they were good as new believe it or not

If they have a bunch of little rectangles going around the outside of the shield then they are not removable. I'd suggest dropping them in some solvent for awhile and try your best to clean them out and then use a spray lube as it will most likely penetrate and lube them suckas' up.

Well.... if you have access to a drill press you could try and drill out a teeny tiny little hole similar to Oust Moc 5's. You'll probably just end up introducing metal shards into the bearing though. You could just slide the hell out of them....

Insert the tip of a pocket knife between the inner race and the shield. Pry up until the shield comes off. Throw shield away. Repeat as necessary. Clean and lube as you would any single-shielded bearing.

Yea they are like that. nothing I have thrown at them seems to have any effect on the shield.

I think I will try getting the shield off like mark suggested but I have tried really hard to get them out and no luck.

If I can't it's soak and spray time,

    Thanks everyone for the advice...

You'll destroy the shield when prying it free, so don't be shy with the knife and or force.

I'd just lube them up well and give them to the neighbourhood kids. If you dont have lube, Krazy glue works equally well. Much funnier in fact.

Just loan them to Marie, as they are. She don't care if they're lubed, clean or anything...

Dude her bearings rolling were louder than my 99a wheels sliding...

not that her wheels rolled for long...

I'll throw some ultra violence at the shields and let you guys know how it turns out...

I "Saved" two of her bearings, just for giggles. Like yours, they're crimp-sealed. I'll just use an awl/icepick to dink a hole in one shield, then pry it off and toss it. Heck, I could do both sides...it's not like those bearings are going to come back from the dead.

take one of those screwdrivers with the point at the end, and pake a hole in the outside edge of the shield, then take a thumtack, insert in puched hole, and pry. Make sure you punch on the outside edge! (i think...) I did it and it worked like magic, but i cant remember if it was the outside or inside edge.
