Default hot, hot, hot weather wheels

    OK...here's the deal.
I'm moving to the Bahamas for 2 years to work. It get wicked hot there in the summer.

Any recomendations as to the best wheel for very hot conditions?

Go harder, and run harder bushings, too.

Also, don't be surprised if your griptape wears out quicker (it gets "soft" and can get "scrubbed" off).

Bearing lube may bleed out, too.

for the bearings use REDLINE grease. extreme high temp resistance to melting/washout.

I was under the impression that it never gets much above 90 degrees fahrenheit out there... got curious and looked up averages on weather.com ... looks like average summer high is between 88 and 91 degrees... I wouldn't worry about it
that's a lot cooler than it is here....

    I second that /\

it was 116 in the shade here during July. never had a problem with melted wheels or gooey bushings.

would only make a difference if you were sliding or bombing big stuff I imagine. can't imagine many big hills in the Bahamas.

i did notice a difference in speed and grip when i came home from the mainland. in oregon it was usually in the 60's, and when i came home to beautiful hawaii the weather was always above 90. my wheels also wore down a lot quicker. i wouldn't say that it was a huge difference, but upping your duro wouldnt hurt.

    Thanks for the heads up.
No there aren't alot of big hills in Nassau but there are hills...I found a couple when I was there in the spring. I'll trade smal hills for being able to ride all year...Canada doesn't really have a long season..hehe

Cooler in the Bahamas than southern US. Soft wheels (roads variable), sunscreen and enjoy! Screw the two years... stay forever.
