Next time, don't take out the ball retainer: just take off the red shield.

an easy way to put the balls and center ring back in that i found if to fold up a piece of paper towel and then put the outring down and put all the balls in the center then you push down on the outer ring which causes the balls to become more inline with the center groove, then you put the center ring in which is now easier to do but still kinda hard and then spread the bearings back out and put the ball retainer back in.

put the seal on the outer race

put all the balls in the groove in the outer race while holding the outer race slightly off verticle so that if the bals fal out of the groove thell hit the seal.

pop the inner race in from above the grouping of balls.

    re insert the ball retainer
    voila
    good as new

I used to break them too Don't take out the retainer when you clean your bearings. You don't need to. If you do for some reason then just make sure all the balls dont slide to one side of the bearing.

The thing is I didn't remove the retainer to clean them. Must have been from ollies, or drops, or I didn't clean them well
