    Default 78a or 81a gumballs?

I have been searching the fourms and contemplating for days and still can't decide over which ones to get. They will be on a roarockit pin with crail speed trucks. I weigh 150 and will use the wheels for carving bombing and some crusing. thanks for you opinion.

78a feel more comfterble under foot and grip like mad. they are my altime cruiser wheel...
81a will be faster..but your obviously not getting gumballs for speed..they will slide easier..but your obviously not getting gumballs for that either. for a gumball the best bet is 78a. if you want a faster/easier sliding wheel for drifitng, look into the 80a kryptos or the 81a stikers or something that is double conicled and smaller contact patch.

I was kinda leaning towards the 78's. I have a set of S9 76mm speed goddess wheels which from my understanding are pretty similar to the krypto's and strikers. So I am looking at trying something a little different, hence the gummys.

just put in a $160 order with Mark...my first one. Went with the 78's, so far no regrets 1 hour post order.

Why wouldn't you want the gumballs for speed?

Anyway, I have two different duros of gums on my speed board: 75a in the back for grip, and 84a in the front for speed, and it is nucking futs.

^ cuz i like the smooooth silent riding that the 75a's all round give me. That way i can ride in my 'hood all night long without pissing off the neighbours like the shortboarders do with their noisy wheels...

wide contact patch. i switched out my gumballs 78a and swaped the same bearings into some kryptos 80mm 80a and and added like 5-7 MPH on every hill i take...plus you cant drift worth **** on gumballs...it chunks and is no good.

    The 78's, the 78's!!

You deserve to have the cush and steam-roller effect of the Gumball, and the 75 or 78a versions have the most of that.

I presume you've figured out you'll need maybe 1/2" risers on the Roarockit with the Crails and those monster truck tires... I don't think 1/4" will do it.

oh, they will drift...but relictantly...and not very predicatble or controlable...its kinda weird. if you want wide contact patch for drifting go for some availas...they do it much smoother.

Chaput says that's exactly what they're designed and good for: high speed drift-and-correct in turns while racing.

mmm interesting... maybe i'm not pushing them to their limits yet, but damn i like them for how silent they are and how much grip i get when forced to crank a corner hard (ie: car suddenly turning)..

I'm gonna make some wheel cutouts on the roarocket so I can run it with just 1/8" shockpads. I hate the feel of being high off the ground.

i have 78a gumballs and i think they may be too soft. they grip and ride like a dream but they are begining to tear up from rollin over rocks and busted glass. they do tend to slide but its very slightly and never caused me any problems.

I run 84 on the front and 81 in the rear - fast and grippy.

I find the 75 and 78 Gumballs way toooooo slow.

    Just my 2 cents

81s are excellent. I don't think you need the softer duros with all that urethane.
