Default EW floaters vs. fireballs vs metro motion vs otang stimulus

k so yeah. pretty wide range of wheels here. just trying to narrow down which one to get. i'm looking to go somewhere after my otang durians for smoother, easier, less chatter, an more controlled slides. i've heard good stuff in regards to sliding bout all the wheels, and for all i know these wheels shouldn't even b compared in the same forum. but whatev. suggestions?

Definitely go with the Metro Motions out of those choices. Cult Classics and Abec 11 Classic Freerides also fit that criteria.

Hesher Snowballs are soft slide wheels. Tech sliding wheels are wheels like Earthwing Slide-a's.

Cult Classics come in purple and yellow, and they are the exact same urethane, just different colors.

I dislike the O-tang slide myself...

Classic Freerides in 81a or Fireball Incendos 84a if you are looking for a more controlled slide. Both have those thane shedding type formulas that make for a buttery slide with easy control and hook up.

Metro Motions rock too, but are a little more icy. Which can be good too...easiest wheel for techie soft wheel slides I've rode in a while.

81a for a more controlled slide and defined hook up(great all around wheel). 84a for all out thrashing and sideways action.

What's nice about the Metro Motions is that they slide so easily. Sounds like the perfect wheel for what you want. I can mess around just doing some flatland skating and toss these wheels around. Besides that I dig the sound they make

anyone of the wheels you listed can be slid on flats. i slide around on my DH setup on flats... if your able than so is your equipment. i would suggest floaters in 81a duro. plenty of control whether your going sideways or drifting through tight corners.

I haven't ridden all of these, but i have ridden the stims (86a), and fireball beasts. IME the stims are really buttery and have a really nice slide, but i do find them to slide out on a fast corner fairly often. If you're looking for a wheel to freeride but not do any super crazy downhill, then these are really good. The beasts, however, are my favorite wheels. They are really good for freeriding, and they can handle a pretty good dh session with ease. Their slide isn't quite as smooth as the stims, but it still feels nice and slick. They're also really fast, and give a super smooth ride.

hmmm hate to threadjack the OP, but how do these compare to metro motions/heshers? In your opinion, of course.

    never tried heshers/motion

comparing the black 84a ew floaters to yellow tangs, the ew's have less chatter on my drop through setups and are easier to throw around

they slide out of the box w/o the stone grinding thing

Alright yeah I'm not a fan of my yotangs, they're slidey but... unpleasant. I'll have to check out the floaters, thanks.

I'd highly recommend cult classics. Very slidey when you want them to be, but they also have a very predictably grip/slip point. They are also pretty deng fast. I took them out tonight for some freeriding on a steep hill. Then directly after, I did some garage riding, and I was really impressed with how the wheels gripped (since they are sideset freeride wheels). I was pumping, taking tight turns, and keeping up (and even passing) some dudes who were riding faster more race oriented wheels.

To be relevant though, from the wheels you want to compare:
Floaters - I have yet to try them.
Fireballs - The wide contact patch and bigger diameter make them a little bit more chattery for standup slides. They were really smooth for hands down slides and predrifts though.
Otang Stims - Really nice wheels, until the start to flatspot or oval. Great speed, nice slide, and good predictability. On the other hand, durability is not a strong point.
Metro Motions - I have not tried these wheels. However they would be my pick out of these four. Center-set for durability, nice narrow contact patch, and nice softer 80a for smoother slides. However I hear they are quite icy at times as well.

damn. im veeeery indecisive so may end up getting two diff sets. the metros would defff been one of em tho. my durians are coning so im leaning less towards otangs for the time being.
