I have been using high strength degreaser which works fine for my reds but I haven't tried them on my swiss. I just drop them in a cup and let them sit for a couple of days. It removes all the oil/dirt/rust. For lube I have been using Tri Flow. I use my reds just for the rain so i'm heavy on the lube.

I just have to say, although I avoid water, Ive been through some. nothing deep, at the most an inch deep once, other than that, maybe just some trickle streams. should I be worried? I just cruise but I think I will be getting some abec 7 ceramics for the hell of it soon...

I've been thinking about one of these, they sure do run cheap. They work well you say? I'm sold, I dig motorized things anyway. Which is another way of saying I'm lazy

I'm fairly sure it's the yellow one that you're supposed to remove. Example >here<.

Okay, lets say your bearings do rust slightly on the part that makes contact with the wheel, and on the front where the yellow covering is like in the picture a couple of posts above, but as far as you know, the inside has not rusted. Is there any way that you can remove this rust?

side note:
Double sealed bearings = low maintenance. I just opened mine after not cleaning them for almost 6 months ... hardly dirty at all.

As long as you're just talking about the outside of the races, rub it gently with some steel wool. Try not to contact the seal/shield.

After soaking the bearings over night in mineral spirits, could i use synthetic motor oil to lube them? Im might do this to sealed bearings.
