I just cleaned my Bones Reds. Acetone, blow dry, let cool, then Speed Cream...

THEY ARE SLOW (Like mentioned in my quote). Do they kinda have to "break in" or something? I cleaned them individually, and the clean wheel spun less than the "dirty" wheel...a lot less.

I'm guessing it'll fix itself with some riding, like happend with Tyler here...??

Thanks for a great post.. wish I read it 2 months ago!

Been riding on rainy days since the end of July! Shitty weather in Norway these days
The roads here are full of dirt aswell.. Needless to say, my bearings make a horrible noise!
I see now that I should have stopped riding them ages ago, but done is done.. Do you think I should just buy new ones? Or is there any chance of saving them?

1 last question.. How come bearings don't like water? If I'm not to ride on rainy days I'm afraid my time on a board would be cut in half.

Bearings have parts that are made of metal and metal will rust faster when water is present.
I'd say if you want to ride in the rain find some cheap bearings from a skate shop near you and have fun skating. Just remember to wipe your bearings after your session to prolong their life.

Not sure if you can remove the shields without damaging them. If you do not intend to reuse the shields, dent the shield buy pressing in with a screwdriver. The shield will curl inwards as you dent along the outer edge. Dented enough you can just wiggle it out from curled edge. That's how i removed mine.

Do you just spray the carb cleaner onto the bearings or did u spray it into like a bottle and let the bearings sit in the carb cleaner?

i post this in another tread but here its useful.

LUBRICATION.- Some people use WD40 thats a no,no.I am new to longboarding but i know about lubrication.WD40 will clean your bearings, bushings, shafts or any moving part coz WD40 eats rust and dirt and repels water, thats why its feel lubbed but it will not protect ur bearings from friction and heat and thas the worst enemy of bearings, and WD40 eat or make soft any plastic, rubber or "tane".So we can use it to begin your cleaning process but not as a final lube. One of the best lube for small bearings u can get its r/c car bearing lube or even r/c differencial racing lube its a little expensive ( about $7-10 usd. for 2 oz. bottle on almost any hobby shop)but it wort it.

Just my 2 cents.
