    Default wheel problem

A couple days ago i was about to go sliding with my shortboard, but when I spun one the wheels it would only spin for about a second and would a make a weird crunching sound. I took it off to look at it, and 2 thin washers fell out. I tried putting the washers back into the wheel, but they wouldnt fit. I hate to say this but I am pretty stupid when it comes to skateboard parts, and Im wondering how to put these washers back so I can ride my board. Oh and the bearings are lucky abec 3 ones if that helps.

    Thanks, John

these could be two differant things. Speed rings or bearing sheilds. look at your bearings , can you see the balls? If you can, the bearings are pretty much useless (you COULD just ride without the sheilds) because youve almost certainly lost the c rings (they hold the shields in place) Id say just buy some new bearings (bones reds($15) or minilogo($9))

ok the the small washers are known as "speed rings" and one goes on each side of your wheel/bearing combo when installed on your trucks.

That is one speed ring goes on the axle first next to the truck hangar.

Then you put on your wheel (with the bearings already installed in the wheel). Then the second speed ring goes on between the wheel and the axle nut.

The crunching sound means your bearings either need to be cleaned and lubed or replaced.

I'd suggest some gk rimz to protect your bearings from dirt and debris.

You still need to clean them periodicaly, but not as much as with out them.

If you dont want to mess with speed rings, builtin bearings have them built in to the bearing along with bearing spacers.

    Good luck.
