    Default Mixing Bearing Parts

I've searched teh forum but still cant find anything about mixing and matching bearing parts. I want to take the intergrated spacer, inner and outer races of my biltins and put in the crown and balls of my 6ers. But id rather see if any one got this working before i drove my self crazy playing with my (bearing) balls. Ive seen the ceramic biltins in how to clean you bearings sticky, thats where i got this idea.

So if any one as had any luck with mixing bearing together, any input would be much apprecaited.

I dont know about the 6 balls fitting into a builtin.
The seals off of bones dont fit the builtins.
I'm not sure about the crown and balls.
I think it might be a challenge.

Hugh R put ceramic balls in his builtins with reportadly good results.

I think it'd be nice if Chaput offered an abec 9 ceramic builtin.

    Here's hugh's custom builtin ceramic;

    Hmm...

I think I'm going to try and come up with a Franken-bearing myself (Ron's ceramic balls in a Biltin).

If that works, and if you'd be willing...

....I'd be interested in buying a set like that.

Please do it and let us know how it works.

Hugh was happy with his and they tested out quite nicely during his
    ""garage" testing.

No way will the balls from the Swiss 6 fit into a Biltin. I have switched stuff from my other 6 balls though without a problem. AHA! I think i am going to switch out the inner spacer thing from my biltins into my Rons...

What if i put the inner race/spacer from the builtins into the 6ers?

Ive been practicing replacing the balls in an old bearing, i got down, but it takes me anywhere from 5 min to 40 min.

are the 6balls slightly larger than other ball bearings, to compensate for the lack more balls or are they just spaced differently? Arent bearings an universal thing? i know they need different meas. for different axels etc. but theres got to be different combinations to make it all fit. i got some old lucky outer races, and a miss match of bearing pieces.

I will post more updates on my Frankin-bearing

Powell 6's have bigger than average balls.

At least that's what she said.

Raoul, the Bones 6-ball stuff won't fit or run right in your Biltin races, nor vice-versa.

The balls from an NMB/Ron's ceramic or a KMart ceramic will work fine in a Biltin setup. The attached photo shows them in three different variations of retainer and orientation of the retainer. I'd suggest running them with stock orientation.

Any good seals (not sheilds) that fit into Biltins? Ceramic balls in a Biltin with a nice seal would be super nice.

Someone here mentioned that rons shields didn't fit the builtins.
I'm not sure which seals would fit but I think you're on to something.

I'd like to see chaput come out with a top end Builtin for racing or whatever that had silicone nitride ceramic balls and rubber labrynth seals,
possibly on both sides if they could engineer a way to make it work.

I do like how you dont have to take the sheild off to clean builtins,
I just dont like how dirt gets in. Rimz seem to help though.

I think a super precision pro version of the builtin would be a good marketing move.

    I'd buy a set.

Bearings w/o a labyrinth seal would probably be good for seal robbing. Reds or even Mini-Logo's might be good candidates. I might have to add this to the Franken-bearing list.

Hugh's went together fine and fared well among and against the top $ and top performing commercial ceramic bearings. Check it out.

Mark's idea to use the silicone nitrade balls from the rockets ceramcs and add better bones shields is even better.

I'd love for abec 11 to do something like this, but it they don't and mark makes them available for purchase I'd love to pick up a set or more if there as good as they sound like they'd be.

Any word on this project mark, or are christmas orders keeping you too busy?

The Franken bearings will have to wait 'til this weekend. Orders and re-stocking have me uber-busy.

If I were to product-ize these, they wouldn't be cheap--ceramic Rockets go for $75/set, and the Biltins are $25/set. Even if I discounted them, you're still looking at really pricey bearings.

Let us know how they work.

I and others might be interested in a high end ceramic builtin even
if it cost somewhere in the $90 range.

But I'd like to hear your report and review first.

See if they help you beat Gpymp in the garage.

So what's your fastest garage set up to put them on?

Ok, that ought to be wicked fast with ceramic builtins.

If it gives you an edge on Gpymp and the rest of the rollers there going to be pissed.

    Or they'll want ceramic builtins......
