    Default Bearing degreaser

I may be mistaken, but I thought I read here (can't find it on search) or another site that "Gumout" Fuel System Cleaner is a good solvent to clean the bearings in before lubing.

    Any truth to this?

Paint thinner (aka, mineral spirits) is probably cheaper and less toxic/harsh.

Thanks Mark... It was on the Bones Reds bearings website about the Gumout. I had a set of bearings in some old 52mm/100a wheels. They sounded pretty bad and I only had the Gumout in the garage. It worked, but I agree the other items would be less harsh.

Turns out, now I can read the bearings. They were Element Forbinator Abec 7 bearings. Added a couple drops of speed lube after drying them off and they spin nice again.

In a couple weeks we will have availabel the "RocketWash Bearing Cleaning System" I will cost around $10-14 and will efficiantly clean your bearings like nothing else youve seen. No more shaking the dirty solution back in the bearings. Real Scrubbing agitation action!!

These should help everyone alot with cleaning bearing. We plan to have an Free Instructional DVD as well to show you step by step. This has been long overdue.

This was in the bearing cleaning section. Any word on this yet? 8)

rumor has it it will be something like a "bearing reverse bodum" system ie: put your bearings into the container, add solvent, pull up on the handle/bearing basket and the solvent is forced thru the bearings in one pull, extracting all the crud.

DONT qoute me on this though please.... like i said RUMOUR!!!!!

Personally i think it will be a centrifugal force bearing washer system, where the bearings are put into a basket (like a mini salad spinner), solvent is added and then you spin the basket and the solvent extracts the crud, throwing it outwards away from the bearings.....

    cant wait!!

I'm also making something cool for cleaning bearings, but just for myself.... :P
