a kid tried to tell me that because my bearings weren't ceramic/above abec 5 that they would build up heat and (instead of just seizing which is what would happen if what he was saying was true) break/explode if i tried to take them over 35. i decided to take some abec 1 quickies from several years back and took a video showing me going over 55 with them and not spontaneously bursting. one of the most gratifying moments of my life.

anyways this is incredibly helpful thanks for posting.

Maybe you should start adding in "Corrections" images to add stuff you may have missed at the very end?

just a note - not all thick lubes (grease) are slow. also, speed rings should be mentioned ("washer, also known as speed ring") and the cleaning section should have pictures too!

There's a direct link between the 'starting torque' (how much twist force is required to make it start turning)
of a bearing and the lubricant's viscosity.
But it's a marginal difference, You're right that a good thick lubricant is faster 'in the wild' than a crap thin one.
    shrugs...

The speed ring thing is a valid point.

The cleaning thing was frustrating - I was tempted to say "clean as recommended by vendor" or something lame like that...

I probably need to change a few things, may require more motivation...
