Default Vault fibreflex 62mm review/1st impressions.

Bought some vault wheels on boxing day sale. Had already read the reviews and had a mate already test them out before.

    So on to the wheels.

Ok to start with the wheels are 62mm by 45 contact 83a. Clear thane looks sweet i think you'll agree.

Out of the packaging these wheels are grippy real grippy. So if your doing some dh these wheels are great before they are broken in.

Once broken in wow these are absolutely amazing freeride wheels, I thought butters where the shiz but have to admit i like these more for 4 big reasons:
1 - these are still a nice grippy wheel even after being broken in so no need to change wheels for med-fast runs or some dh.
2 - the slide feels amazing, such a nice sugary slide start to finish. Its a consistant slide/feeling all the way through, on butters occasionally the slide can feel icy/empty if u know what i mean.
3 - Thane Thane OmgwtfbbqsaucewithbuffalowingsThane this leave the biggest and most beautiful thane lines ever.
4 - price, in australasia these are the cheapest price to performance wheel around 35nz postage incl.

    Only bummer they wear fast.

Next couple of days ill ride the fattyflex 70mm by 51mm contact. Same thane and same core and review that for ya.

My friend has these and they leave the thickest sugary thane lines. I'm considering buying a set. Nice review.

Thinking I trying a set of these wheels since they're so cheap and I was just wondering if they'll be nice for me, I weigh 48kg (105lbs). Currently riding 78a pink powerballs and I'm not sure if the 83a duro will have a similar slide to my current wheels.

    Sorry for bump :S

I grabbed some FattyFlex's a little while ago but haven't ridden them much (I've been shredding my Rainskates) but from the few days I rode them they are so smooth and buttery it's ridiculous. Don't even get me started on the thane lines... awesome.

So in terms of sliding would it be similar to the fibreflex due to the wider contact patch? Powerballs have a much smaller contact patch so not sure if they'd be easier/harder to slide. Also would they thane under my weight? Would be pretty sweet since they're so cheap. And may I ask where you got your Rainskates from? I'm guessing you bought them outside Aus with some other gear?

They slide very well when broken in but are uber grippy out if the packaging (like DH grip). I can't really compare then to the FibreFlex's since I haven't tried any but I assume they will be very similar, although since the contact patch is wider it will take more effort to break traction with them. I bet they probably will thane under your weight, I'm not 100% sure though. Yeah I got my Rainskates when I bought a board and what-not from EDGE, they are so nice.

Thanks for the info! Might try them as my next wheels and maybe Rainskates as well. Which duro are you riding? If you are or have tried the 82a, how would they compare to a 78a wheel? I've heard that they are actually much softer than the duro states.

I ride the 83a duro (I'm pretty sure they're only made in 83a?) and yes, they do feel softer than a 'regular' 83a wheel.

Oh, sorry man. I went with the 85a with the Mega T's and IMO they feel around the 80a mark. Super smooth and buttery.

So I'm guessing the 82a would be a much softer wheel like 76-78a? Or should I go with the 85a if I decide to get a set?

Well, I've heard that the 82a's are a little more sugary than the 85a's and they also kill a little more speed. Other than, they're the same wheel.

quick question (and sorry for another revival) how do these wheels slide at slow speed? Where I live there aren't great hills (or hills at all really). I can get my butter balls to slide for like 6 feet or so at the moment while going at like 15 mph and I'm thinking about getting these, but I'm worried they'll be too grippy
