Bearing spacers
What are they, what do they do? Do I need them? I'm thinking about getting a Sector 9 Golden Lefts: 46"x9.6", Abec11 Gumballs (76mm, 78a), Powell Bones Reds bearings, Randall R-II 180mm trucks. Setup offered at daddiesboardshop.com. This is my first board in a while, so I'm going safe and commercial.
Also, just how soft are Gumball 84a's or Grippins 84a/88a's? I'll be riding in a hot, humid, southern climate, if that matters. I'm looking for the smoothest, glide-over-pebbles-sticks-and-small-pets ride.

Bearing spacers are little pieces of metal that look like this

and go between the bearings on the axle like this

they relieve stress on your bearings and are worth the $5
For the smoothest ride you should go with the Gumballs in 75A.
