    Default 3DM Speedvent 85mm Longboard wheels Q??

It says that it requires 10mm bearing spacers on Daddiesboardshop.com

Does this mean that you get 10mm spacers and then you can use 8mm skateboard bearings?

I'm looking for a big downhill/cruising wheel (mostly cruising for now) and someone mentioned these wheels.

So I thought I'd ask about the bearing spacers.

    thanks

No, you need a spacer that's 0.400" wide, aka, "10mm."

No, Actually its 10mm refers to the width of the spacing, rather than the ID size of the spacer, which is what you have it confused with. And For example, Kyrptos use 8 mm spacing. Most use 10mm spacing, which is actually .4 inches and not 10 mm if im thinking strait.

standard 608 bearings fit in the wheels and fit a 10mm spacer between each bearing in the core of the wheel.

so the bearing goes in the wheel and the spacer between the axle and the bearing? or the bearing goes inside the spacer then into the wheel?

    I'm confused.

Spacer goes in between the two bearings.

so the speedvents dont have a standard bearing seat in them and require a spacer to keep them seperated distance wise (i.e. on both sides of the hub)?

the spacer goes in between the bearings in the middle of the wheel

the diameter of the spacer (same as the axle) used for most trucks is 8mm (bears and a few others have 10mm)
and the length for most spacers is 10mm (some do have 8mm).

i think, feel free to correct me

    i think you'll want 8mmx10mm but i'm not sure.

yes, it does have bearing seats like a standard wheel . BUT < running them without a spacer leads to a much weaker setup at the axle. Spacers allow you to tighten the axle nut until snug, and the wheel spins freely, with no play on the axle. Exactly how you want it.

so. Imagine an axle.. the layout would be like this. hangar-speedring-bearing-spacer-bearing speedring. SOO, you put a bearing in the seat, then the spacer in between , then press the other bearing in. When you do this the spacer might move around a little bit . YOu can use somethinglike a screwdriver to keep them in line until you slide it onto the axle.

Still confused...B/c i realize im not too great at explaining things.

    You got the idea...NM

8mm size of axle but 10mm wide.

A better way to say it would be that most longboard wheels have a a wider bearing width to support the wider wheel. The spacer allows the hub to keep the wheel center and not overloaded by wheel forces

By looking at the pictures it makes sense.

The wider wheel and bearing spacers make sense now.

So for most of the larger wheels I would need to get spacers for them along ith the washers/rings that go between the truck hanger and one between the axle nut and first bearing.

thanks for helping me clear this up...

skateboards aren't as simple as one would think... a lot of thought goes into these things.

    again, thanks
