Re: sector 9 wheels
I have them on my Hypercarve, they are very fast, grippy, and smooth. Ideal for cruising the flats or Downhill(if you prefer stick over drift).
I would NOT reccomend them for a 'jack of all trades' set up, their super soft lips really mess up your ability to slide with any real smoothness. The first time i tried to safety slide on these things it made a horrible noise and pitched me off.
But if you want an exepensive DH wheel, or something grippy and soft for cruising the flats, they are a good choice. Its also worth noting they dont seem that worn down for how much i use them and how soft they are.

Re: sector 9 wheels
Don't go with sector 9 at all. Get something a lot better like something from abec 11.

Re: sector 9 wheels
I'm a big fan of sector 9 wheels. I love the bombhills and GOS. I'm not the only one.

Having experience on both brand of wheels, I'm actually partial some of the sector 9 wheels since they're comparable to abec 11 wheels but are priced much lower. The sector 9 72mm/75a top shelfs are great if you want super grippy wheels for carving. Even when pushed, they're not likely to drift out so they're awesome for garage bombing. I kinda wish I had my old set still....
p.s. the soft lips are somewhat prone to chunking after hard abuse. but that doesn't mean that they're worthless. imo, they're worth every penny.

Re: sector 9 wheels
I found the Top Shelfs to be dead and sluggish on flat land. They're too soft for just kicking and I never got a chance to take them to the garage so they've been sitting here practically new. I'm giving them to my little cousin when he saves up to buy a board and trucks.

Well that is pretty interesting. I have a set of S9 70mm nineballs and Pink Powerballs on the go. Don't get me wrong, the Powerballs are great, but I have always thought that the S9 wheels are a great value for the money. Currently I am not using the Powerballs and am wearing down my S9s learning how to slide -- yes I bought some 'nicer' wheels and am not using them as I don't want to cone the hell out of them. The funny thing is that the S9s feel pretty good.
I think my next wheels will be some Grippins for a new deck but i will probably buy some more S9 nineballs when I finally cone the set I am using. When I go home tonight I am going to have a look at the cores of the 2 sets of wheels, thanks Mile_High_Mark for pointing this out.
I know a lot of folks around here like to have a go at S9, but I think their wheels are great.

Re: sector 9 wheels
The 65mm TS wheels use the same core, and I believe the sliders too.
Sec9 has really improved thier wheels over the past couple of seasons. The previous generations sucked ass.
I'm very happy to sell them.
Don, you should try those pinks out, you'll like 'em too!
Oh yeah, the 72s are nice carving, speedy wheels

Big bump to the S9 GOS. Very nice wheels. I am really enjoying their predictability and smooth
ride. The only downside is they make me notice how rough the ride of my Lemon Zigs is.

I know an that means that at least they have potential to be really good. However, being poured in the same factory doesn't mean that their formulas or designs are as good.

Re: sector 9 wheels
I used to have these wheels and they are great for cruising/carving and some mellow dh. They are great wheels for the price as are the other sector 9 wheels. I used the BH wheels for a long time and took them pretty fast, great wheels.

Re: sector 9 wheels
You are correct. The only downside with the newer Sec9 wheels is the narrow range of duros. That being said the duros, are the most popular for longboard wheels.
Some of the guys in this thread have tried just about every commercially available wheel coming from several manufacturing facilities. So If they think its a good product there's a good chance you will too!

Hi Jamie. I have been using the powerballs a bit, but all I am doing when I am riding by myself is trying to get some sliding figured out and I would be trashing the powerballs in a short period of time. Last night I noticed that my S9s are starting to cone from my efforts, and I almost had a tear of joy -- such a noob to the slide. I will save getting pissed off at coned wheels for my next set of trashed wheels (ha ha).
To comment on the durometer issue, I understand Mark's rational that a limited hardness range has some benefits, but I do wish that S9 had at least one mid-sized wheel (eg 70mm nineball) in the low eighties. I will soon be looking for my next set of wheels to wreck and want something with a bit more slide. Without S9 getting lost in a sea of durometer ratings, I think it could be profitable for them to have at least one mid-sized wheel that is not 75/78a.
