Default Is there a Hardware Store Alternative to Spacers?

I always buy grade 8 bolts and flatwasher at the hardware store rather then at a skateshop (real or online) I'm looking at buying some 8X10mm spacers, but they're 5 bucks for such little things. Does like home depot or lowes (or anyplace of the sort) carry things that could be used as spacers?

Outside of a skateshop, the closest you'll come is a bicycle shop (chainring spacers). The latter are probably more expensive than bearing spacers, though.

Are the swiss spacers really alloy? Hmm, they seam like nylon or a similar plastic but I think they are nicer then the metal onces... cleaner cut.

i would try the street skateshop. usualy they have a full box of them they give away for free because none of the street skaters want them (almost every street wheel doesent fit standard spacing)
i just got about 10 sets for free at the local kickflipper shop. they arnt all mean guys just a lot of them

I'll try it. It may help that we're family friends with the owner, and I have some goods for them.

Really metal? Hmm interesting, I guess alloys feel more plastic like or something then a steel or aluminum? Those black ones are much lighter, dont make a sound like metal (less dense?)... But they are much smoother then the steel or aluminum ones I have which have a rough edge from the cut.

"Alloy" is often used interchangeably with "aluminum." The Powell spacers are aluminum.

Hey guys, I have a question, I just bought some Reds for my board, and they didn't come with spacers. Do I need them? I have Landyachtz Hawgs wheels on RII 180s. And another question, should I put lube on the axles?

    Yes.
No (unless you live in a very damp/humid climate).
