Default Bearings and Grippens.. hmmmm WOW

I started to assemble my wheels and bearings and mount them on my Crail trucks tonight.

The board should be in hopefully soon but I started putting stuff together anyway to play around.

The ABEC5 bearings I bought came with some lube and spacers so I stuck them together and WOW, I spun the wheels while mounted on the trucks and they spin a very very long time. More than anything I have so far on my other two boards.

I can't wait to put these on the board and try it out, it just appears that its going to be very very very fast!!!

78a was what my local shop had when I stopped by and couldn't resist buying them when I saw how nice they looked.

I can't wait to see how they handle..

My boss suggested I find a parking garage to bomb through and even mentioned the one in our building. The best part is I know the guards, so they probably wont say anything!

I have 2 sets in 78A(one wasn't enough) I have a set on a Turner that I use sor quick jounts and a set on a 38" custom... You'll love them! Grippy, but fast and forgiving on un perfect terrain.

Grippens? You mean Slipens right? Try some Zig Zags. They are faster and they grip waaaaaay better.

Dude Grippens and Zigzags are very close in comparison for carving

i have a drifty style of carving and they both do the job great

75a grippens and 80zigs feel very similar

side set totally wins becuase you can rotate em better

Considering I'm in California where temps can get pretty high and concrete/asphalt temps can be just as hot if not hotter than the air, will a harder duro be better or stick with a softy?

    yes.. drop-thru

How low do you think it will be? As low as the EVO? I think the EVO is dropped 2+ inches and the DS is 1.5? inches dropped. With the same truck and wheel combo will they be about the same?

I have pictures of the DS with gumballs and Crails and it's pretty low but looks rideable.

There is a reason I offer grippens on some of my boards. They are a great wheel for just about any type of riding, and the name says it all.

I'm glad I bought the Grippins. Wide, squared, centerset wheels is the shizz for dh carving. Haven't noticed the difference but I bought an 81/78a duro set.

    thanks for the replies.

My 2yr old daughter seems to like the grippens for the "skateboard car" and who am I to argue with a 2yr old?

I should consult her on the board once it gets here and see if she approves. So far she likes the powell deck overthe PPS porker, and I thought the Pig on a frying pan was cool.... hmmm
