maybe your just faster, or your board accelerates faster. could be you bearings also, good bearings work a lot faster than dirty old ones

Re: gumballs vs strikers vs flywheels?
Metalhead, it's probably something else...like your tuck.
Smaller wheels are going to accelerate faster than larger wheels, but a larger wheel has a higher top speed and will hold speed better.
Gumballs (76mm) have a very large contact patch as opposed to strikers or flywheels. This is beneficial for gripping corners, but when it comes to drifting or sliding they tend to skip the pavement and are a bit tougher to control.
Strikers, in both the 66mm and 77mm sizes, have a more narrow contact patch and no large lips. They're ideal for drifting and sliding, while still providing a decent amount of grip in the softer durometers.
Flywheels, my favorite of the bunch, are availiable in 76mm, 83mm, 90mm, and 97mm sizes. They seem to be the perfect cross in the abilities of a striker and a gumball, providing grip and traction while still maintaining a controllable drift. I highly suggest keeping it below 90mm, though...the 97's are extremely bulky and due to their large size have a tendency to slide out a bit more. 76mm Flywheels seem to be the preference of many racers today.
Use the search function and I'm sure you'll find out loads more.

its duro.
like 75a is softer than 97a.
I like 78-81a wheels, nice and grippy.

Re: gumballs vs strikers vs flywheels?
Unfortunately for us there is no "best" wheel.
So many factors come into play.
Temperature, rider weight, road surface, road steepness. corner types.
then you get.
water, sand, gravel, oil, rocks, sticks, cracks, expansion gaps... etc etc.
not to mention rider style...
The earth shall inherit the meek.

SteveC is right on it....there is no spoon mate....its up to you.
if you live somewhere cold but a lower duro for cruising commuting...we have to....most of us run 75-80ish wheels....
