Re: Show me... abused wheels!
ok, i have a problem. i hav grav. drifters in 83a and when i first had them and broke em in they left thane lines and coned like crazy. them i got gfh retro wheels and started using them and my drifters sat around doing nothing for about month & a half to 2 months. i threw them on today and had a solo session sliding all morning and bombed this hill a few times with some friends.... no marks and no visible coning.... do they like harden when you break em in and then leave em then use them again

Re: Show me... abused wheels!
so i have a question.
ive noticed that the smaller the wheelbase the harder it is to slide and do standups.
i can do them like a dream on an FSM, and evo, but when i had my 32 inch boards with 20" wheelbase i cant do them for ####, they just grip even with hard as hell slippery wheels.
i have found my sweetspot for sliding withing the 26-34 inch wheelbases. ( soft wheel sliding BTW, no slide A shenanigans).
anyone have this same thing going on for them?
how would drifters do on a smaller wheelbase setup? still drifty? anyone tried it?

some wheels wear very quick at first but then over time they wear slower.
drifters are also prone to have an uneven mixture that causes them to wear weird and be too hard in some areas. but as long as they slide they work right.

Re: Show me... abused wheels!
Well shorter wheelbase is gonna equal more turn which equals more slide resistance.
So tightening trucks would help

Well eexxxccccuusseee meeeeeee.
I found that tightening the truck on my Krooked helped it break free a lot easier than when I had it looser.

Mine have a death swirl. It's almost like you have to warm them up with a few big slides before they become really buttery again, seems like we're having the same problem.

Wheels can get slidey, grippy, then slidey again.
It just sort of happens.

urethane flakes are white/clear (Appear white due to flakiness) no matter what the color of wheel. the dye is so dilute in the urethane mixture that its very hard to make out at such a thin amount, such as the urethane left on asphalt.

puprle tangs leave a light purple line, definitely not white, but a faded purple.

Re: Show me... abused wheels!
My satori gooballs just disintegrate when you slide. They leave light yellow thane lines everywhere, which is interesting considering I'm only 130 lbs.
I bet a heavier rider could kill a set in less than a day.

did a coleman over a gnarly sidewalk crack about a week ago. took a big ol chunk out of the inside lip of a lime bigzig, enough to unbalance the wheel and chatter the board over 30mph. they're going to a friend now for him to shred up in exchange for pretty new 83mm 81a flys. w00t
