Re: How to: Radius Inner/Outer Lips
I might try the rolling down the hill idea So i can radius the inner lips on my flashabacks.
What number sandpaper should I use?

id suggest a file since sandpaper is pretty flimsy and might tear on you

i dont know if putting a radius on your flashies will do a whole lot because the wheels are side-set. there is no excess material on the outside of the hub to "catch" and grip more. i think you would be better off just riding them and wearing the lip down gradually.

Re: How to: Radius Inner/Outer Lips
Finally got the motivation I needed from the Fish to radius my BigZigs. Did my yellow and limes. The pinks will stay square for grippy goodness.

I used a trim router with a round-over bit. Yes, I wore a mask.
Really helps to initiate a slide, also eliminates some chatter. Very productive modification.

Re: How to: Radius Inner/Outer Lips
I radiused my S9 81mm Bomb Hills (currently 72mm) that previously slid quite a bit.
But now, oh my god.
They slide very far, almost silently and it's easier to initiate a slide.
I can throw standups very easily. The transition and hookup is way smoother.
Totally worth it. They are kickass freeride wheels now that they are radiused.

Re: How to: Radius Inner/Outer Lips
What are the different characteristics that radiusing the inside/outside of the wheel? ie should i radius both in and out of my zigs?
-
Re: How to: Radius Inner/Outer Lips
radiusing both will be less grippy than only doing one or none.
radiusing the inner lip will yield less grip than doing just the outer lip.

Re: How to: Radius Inner/Outer Lips
does the amount of material removed by radiusing (<is that a word?) make a difference, like if i took off more material from the outer lip than the inner lip?
and do you think that radiusing my venom shockers will help any in terms doing of predrifts and pendy drifts?
thank in advance

Re: How to: Radius Inner/Outer Lips
if you want more drift, take off more material from the inner lip. sure changing the contact patch will make less friction and technically an easier slide/drift. but to get a real good slide, make your wheels more offset or sideset by taking off material from the inner lips.
i dont know much about venom shockers so i cant say what differences will be made by removing material.

Re: How to: Radius Inner/Outer Lips
is this doable with a belt sander? i have a set of retro freerides worn down to like 55mm so the lips are like perfectly square (choppy slidin'). also, if the wheels are ovalized would it affect the radiusing at all?

yes its doable with a belt sander, just use a coarse grit. ovalized wheels shouldnt affect it too much, as long as the wheel spins it should work. that doesnt mean it will be a smooth ride though.

hmmm i dont have any coarse grit belts, i think im going to give it a shot anyways. and yup its already a bumpy ride, only at higher speeds and in tight lower speed turns though.

coarse grit would get it done quick, im sure fine grit will work, just a bit longer.

Re: How to: Radius Inner/Outer Lips
How well do the bigzigs slide after doing this? I can pick up a set of limes, but they still have their square lips. Definitely considering radiusing them, as it might help with the slideability of the wheels. Also, I have a set of Pink Bigzigs that are slightly broken (edges are worn down Would doing this help them slide better?

Got some old bushings/stickers/whatever you want to get rid of? Want some Randall Tube Pivot cups that get rid of slop? Send me a PM.
