You want 8mm bearings. I'd recommend Bones Redz if you want the best bang without robbing the piggy bank. Be sure to get bearing spacers too!!

bones reds. also buy some Bones speed cream. clean them every month or 3 weeks. and keep your old wheels and use them as rain wheels. so you don't need to worry about the bearings in the old wheels. and spacers don't make any difference for me. but thats just me.
hey guys watch this, watch this.

Regular generic skateboard bearings. 608-z I belive is the sizing term, but any skateshop will have em, cos that's what EVERYBODY rides. (Except wierdos with 10mm truck axles...)

Gumballs take a regular 10mm spacer, just like any generic skateboard wheel. There's not many wheels about now that take the other option of an 8mm... Oh you're gonna like these gumballs, they roll so smooth...

so the 10mm spacer with the bone redz bearing should work then

I disaggree. In no way are Gumballs "inferior", they're just different. I love gumballs for cruising and carving on mixed road qualities. Plus, in the 81a formula, check slides and colemans are easier than the softer duros. But there's no way the Gumball is a bad choice of wheel, for any setup.

FYI: The 8mm measurement for the truck axle is diameter, btw. 10mm on the wheels is the linear distance between bearings (or the width of the core).

So if you wanna get super-specific you need 8mm (inner diameter) bearings and 8mm (inner diameter) x 10mm (length) spacers. Most shops only carry 8mm diameter gear, so you can often get by just saying "10mm spacers."

The whole 8mm, 10mm thing can be confusing because people don't make it clear whether they mean diameter or length. (Especially since Bear trucks and Krypto wheels have muddied up the waters with their 10mm diameter axles and 8mm wide cores.)

At least bearings all have standard outside diameters. I'll lose my sh1t when some wheel company makes cores that take non-standard outside-diameter bearings...

Edit: Gumballs are fun all-arounders. Soooo much urethane.

I think you did good job there, but much of the confusion can be averted by using the correct measurements: there are no wheels made with bearing spacing in millimeters. They're all .300" or .400"

So, if your wheel takes .300 spacers or.400 spacers, then all you've got to decide is what bore/axle hole size bearings you need. If it's for a standard skateboard truck, then standard skateboard bearings with an 8mm bore are the ticket. Some Landy and other trucks take a 10mm bearing. All Abec11, Retro, Pink, Seismic, 3dm, Comet, Tunnel, Bennett, BDS and Never Summer wheels take a .400 spacer (partial list of wheels).

One part with two measurements in two different systems? That's cool (but kinda messed up). And I suppose it actually matters. 0.3" = 7.62mm.

Now just get the shops to start saying 0.300" and we're golden.

    Thanks for the knowledge.
