Thank you for the clarification, I'll add that.

Re: The Bearing Know-How Thread
1. More expensive bearings will not make you faster.
I'm all for cheap bearings, but why does an ABEC3 PT feel noticeably slower than an ABEC7 PT?
2. Spacers are necessary, they do help your bearings last longer, and will not effect your speed
You mean aren't? I don't run spacers in any of my setups, they seem to roll just fine.
3. Ceramic Bearings do last longer than conventional metal bearing, but have no effect on performance.
Are you positive?
4. The Abec system doesn't have anything to do with longboarding, it is used for machines not skateboards.
See number one.
2. Pleasure Tools are in my opinion the best "bang for the buck," shielded, so they reduce debris from getting in.
If you're worried about debris, wouldn't you recommend the sealed bearing instead of shielded?
Not to be a dick or anything. I only run cheap ass bearings because I don't notice a 30+ dollar difference in speed, but a lot of this #### seems to be pulled out of your ass.

Re: The Bearing Know-How Thread
I agree with mr. aftershock.
I noticed a huge difference between sealed PT 7's and Ron's ballistech Missiles.
Even with shielded pleasure tools, my board was faster than my friends every time down the garage (im comparing me riding it both times, not him racing me.)

Ok, I never said abec 3's were slower than seven, If you'd like to show me this I'll fix it. I meant to write sealed, my bad I ride sealed. Oh, because you don't run spacers that means they're uneeded, what kind of Bs is that, pulled out my ass... loook what you just posted.

Re: The Bearing Know-How Thread
umm this is convenient, so i got board earlier, and took apart my bearing longstory short i lost one of the eight balls and put it back together, so now it has seven and a small gap, will i die without the last ball,
yes i know im an idiot, i was really bored

What wheels did either set-up have?

Re: The Bearing Know-How Thread
Numbers 1, 2, and 3 are simply not true. Different bearings have measurable differences, particularly and how long they take to get up to speed. Top speed in downhill may not be effected much because air resistance is your biggest enemy. But in other forms of skating, difference in speed from different bearings is quite noticeable.
Lastly, your list of recommendations is good but why leave off the fastest bearings in the world (ron's), the bearings that will stay cleanest longest (ron's), bones' various "swiss" offerings which have been on top of the bearing world for longer than most silverfishers have been living, the quality bearings coming from khiro (nitro) and oust and ninja?

bigzigs on the ron's, speedvents on the pt's.
Btw, both had steel spacers and all that jazz, and the boards weighed about the same.
I got passed on my own damn board

When you say that spacers are necessary, in my mind that means you will simply not be able to skate. I skate just fine without them, sure they may HELP, but it's a fact that they are not necessary.

Re: The Bearing Know-How Thread
Agreed. I'd say half of my setups don't have spacers. I have no idea which ones because I can't tell any difference, ha!

Yep, I guees this what I get for trying to help people. It's ok though, we all have the need to prove poeple wrong even if our points are worthless and have no validity at all. If you don't like this thread, make you're own.

Re: The Bearing Know-How Thread
When info supplied is more so an OPINION rather than a fact, and you try to correct the error, thats called constructive criticism, not sh*tting on the thread. I also agree, if this is supposed to be some kind of FAQ, the authors opinions on the best bearings should be left out. I also agree, that spacers are not a necessity, maybe it should be phrased: "Although wheel spacers arent a necessity, they do help your bearings last longer, and will not effect your speed" thats the better way to phrase it.
