Re: whats the fastest wheels and bearings
well the bones ceramics should do the job at bearings (if you want to pay $100 for bearings be my guest). Wheels i am not sure at, ABEC 11 gumballs will give you a very nice grip.

Bennett Alligators (78a for full grip, split duro for more drift action). Although, flys (90 or 97) would be good for just straight runs, with little/minimal turns. Also good for drifting due to the low urathane depth. 83mm is a more realistic height for everyday use.
bearings - probably something ceramic.

Re: whats the fastest wheels and bearings
ceramics will make it so they wont heat up. and the biggest flywheels you can get will have the fastest top speed. find some 101s or so, and if the asphalt is real smooth, get the hardest wheel that will still grip enough. that will be the fastest strait line setup

Re: whats the fastest wheels and bearings
dont know if im right hear just yell at me if im not but big zigs are the fastest wheel on the market or you could argue that at least and i heard that as long as it's down hill size doesn't matter only in the flats it does. And you might have to try several differnt sizes cause i smaller wheel will get up faster but not hold the speed and a big wheel is slower but holds the speed atleast that's my understanding

Re: whats the fastest wheels and bearings
smaller wheels have faster acceleration and bigger wheels have higher top speed and the more weight on the out side of the wheel compared to the inside of the wheel gives it momentum, which is the reason for the hollow core in some wheels

Re: whats the fastest wheels and bearings
If the pavement is decent, there's little advantage for wheels bigger than 70mm or so. As for bearings, more important than what brand is them being clean and well lubricated.

Re: whats the fastest wheels and bearings
thanks guys this is good info, ? would your standard gumballs do the job or should I look at flys,
bearings yes Ive heard many people say as long as they are clean and in good nic it dosnt really matter what they are , but I am looking more at the idea to hold the speed once reach my max, whether it be 70,80,100kph and get used to it then push on to going faster

ok i didnt start out with your ability dictates how fast you go bl bla , i waited a few lines,
your TUCK DETERMINES HOW FAST YOU WILL GO NOT YOUR WHEELS AND BEARINGS!
i'm not convinced on the bigger equals topspeed too but what do i know , why dont they still make 101s, chris will say its uero depth or whatever but the proof is out there, of course my post isnt like the others so you will likely be led astray by the sheep....
bllleeeeepppp!
why dont you buy some fishballs and some builtins, does it really matter? no any good wheels under 80 are fine get zig zags pink or lime. get builtins or swiss bones...whatever you do dont work on your tuck its the wheels and bearings that are important.

Re: whats the fastest wheels and bearings
i think if you were to push some limits, you are better off riding the dh wheels that you've had the most riding with, regardless of what it is.

yeah I like gumballs ,but the fastest wheels Ive had so far are 75mm 3dm avilas,
but lets just say for argument sake that my tuck and riding ability is very good , and I have a long hill in front of me that will take me up to 120kph ( I wish ) the seal is smooth everything is perfect , So is there a wheel that is really more suited for speed above others that maybe more of and alround dh wheel,.
sorry if it seems Im going on Im just trying to save time and money, and have a set up that will give me a good fast ride, Im building my own trucks just for this , which I will post pics of soon,

it's like you are speaking of the niche of 81a 97mm flys.
in theory:
harder duro grips less - less friction
bigger wheels - more momentum in straights
they are expensive tho.

Re: whats the fastest wheels and bearings
Descending order of significance. IMO
Aerodynamics
Line
Wheels
Bearings
Sometimes aero and line swap.
And if your bearings are s#it they will hold you back. but they only have to be good, not 'best'

I'm sorry but I have to correct this Bigger wheels don't have a higher top speed, they hold speed longer, while smaller wheels accelerate faster. The top speed on most wheels is unnatainable.

When grip means nothing to you, then go with Cherry Bombs or Flywheels (old shape only, 83mm, 92mm). Don't slide with them or they are ####ed up.

Re: whats the fastest wheels and bearings
a few guys have said to get builtins and maybe they have worked for otheres but i have tried many different types of lube in them, cleaning them often, really ive done everything but replace the balls in them and they are still noticably slower than my swisses and even my reds, imo they are a great slide bearing but not speed.

I like my builtins for speed, but I know exactly what you're saying. Builtins can get very dirty which makes them quite slow so I replaced replaced the shields with pleasure tool seals to keep them clean and fast.

Re: whats the fastest wheels and bearings
My honest opinion is that you should ride what you've got until you're absolutely incapable of taking it any faster. That's when it's time to upgrade.
Of course, this is coming from a guy that doesn't go that fast and owns a foamcore Chicago speedboard with Smokies. Don't take after me though, I'm an idiot.
