Re: winter, 30F, which wheels for carving?
Are there any wheels designed for snow/ice conditions? It would be nice to be able to skate during the 0F winters in Edmonton where the streets are covered by a 6 inch layer of ice.

Re: winter, 30F, which wheels for carving?
75a grippins preform nice in cold weather. ive used mine in canada in the winter, not sure where you are, but it gets cold here. they slide predictably too, because theyre so soft the deform nicely.
hey yo son that's my name whats the word?

Edmonton might need thesesnowskates and a largedog in a harness to do the pulling.

Re: winter, 30F, which wheels for carving?
Hey, I have a few kinda similar questions too, and didn't want to start a whole new thread...
I have 77a Avalons on my Complex.
I live in the KC area, and KNOW that I'll be boarding some during the winter.
Are these wheels gonna work well?
Also, I was looking at getting some blue 81a's because I wanted to start tryin' to slide.
Are those decent sliding wheels?
Will those be better for winter anyway?
Thanks!

I'm sooooo glad in So-cal I don't have too worry about 30-degree board rides and which wheel I'm going to use when its f#cking freezing balls off cold out side, but I give props to anybody willing to ride there long board at anything less then 40-degrees.. My hat is tipped..

Yeah.. Our snow up here isn't quite on the ground for good for the winter yet.
It melted off over the span of the last two weeks, and the last 2-3 it has been dry pavement, but it's been 25 degrees.. I've still done a little bit of riding though.. Pretty soon there will be 10 feet of snow, and it'll be at highest 20 degrees for the next 4-5 months
I need a new idea for a sig.

avila thane does not take cooling well.... 75a grippins would be my choice, something a little lower so when you go down its not so hard.

What is the difference between the blast waves and the speed vents?

blast waves have a radiused outside edge, this sacrifices a bit of traction for better sliding characteristics.

So in theory the blast waves are better for sliding? So like the 83a purple ones would be great?

well I'd call it a drift wheel, I wouldn't call anything under 90 a slide wheel.
