Hahah. You bet they don't. Especially when it is made in Asian sweatshops. The skate "industry" doesn't want anyone to know the truth about bearings either! That's because they by and large don't "make" anything. They just do phony marketing and distribution.

Oh, oops, my bad for assuming that the 'alot of people' buying stuff to keeping the industry afloat were the important ones. I assume we are talking about the same industry that was/is in crisis about the fact that customers dont want to pay $20-30 dollars more on a deck that has the companies paint on it. $20-30 dollars more for a deck that looses its pop and breaks at the rame rate... yeah guys, i do not understand that either.

Not all info is a marketing point, but that doesnt mean that people should not know. The torture at Guantanamo Bay comes to mind...

That is very true. It would hurt some manufacturers very greatly for the buying public to find out how their product was produced (ie child labour), or where their product was from (say cambodia). Strangely those companies know that doing such things are viewed negatively by the buying public, yet they continue to use cheap in third world countries so that they can widen their profit margin.

Eh you know if you work for a company that would rathe have us not know where and how they do their buisness, I wont lose any sleep if you are adversely affected.

Because there are two different companies trying to make a buck?
Did I get it? Did I win?
Like i said before the giants need to fall. Skateboarding has been around since the early fifties, it will keep on trucking even if the giants fall. The "Industry" has been needing to shed the bullshit for along time.

but knowing why the wheels are the same doesn't mean anything?
let me put this out there...it seems like AEND has been having a little QC trouble lately...there's been many threads about crooked, wobbly cores in abec11, s9, and seismic wheels. without knowing that all those brands are made by AEND, one might assume that those are all isolated incidents. now, that would tell me to watch out for neversummer, comet, bennett wheels, or other brands that are poured by AEND because they too might have a wobbly core. is there something wrong about being an informed consumer?
yes, an uber-grippy, square-lipped slalom wheel IS the best for sliding

So all of Dwindle's Wheels and Decks are made at DSM.
that is Blind, Almost, Speed Demons, Darstar and Enjoi
hmmm, for some reason destructo trucks are in dwindle's winter catalog... huh, mabey it is time to try and unravel more yarn.

I thought Dwindle was the leader of the Chinese outsourcing....

I didnt say that DSM was in the states, just that Dwindle's boards and wheels are made by their own mfg company.

Re: Wheel Manufacturers/Distributors
That's incredible just because the urethane really is so superior...
If they "make their own" (which is nothing short of jaw-dropping surprising), they should have other wheel manufacturers beating their doors down.
I work part time at a skatepark that has a surface like a tennis court (let me restate that: like sandpaper). I flat spot wheels like no other. I had a set of spitfires, I skated at the park at a 4 hour shift, and flatspotted them so bad they sounded like helicopters - virgin wheels!
On the other hand, I've had 3 sets now, of Darkstar Light Knights, and they really honest to god don't flat spot. I don't know how they do it... I killed my two former sets when the thin urethane skin became de-bonded from the hard hollow core. No flat spots, and that's unbelievably true. I just want to know how they do it! Damn.

Re: Wheel Manufacturers/Distributors
The dwindle wheels that i have tried felt chalky to me, though all the parks i ride in are smooth concrete so/and flat spotting hasnt been a very big issue for me.
BTW, Better Skateboarding Wheels aka Betters are made in house as well. At least that is what they told me when i shot them an email... Hmm, I think there might be something to this whole asking companies who makes their wheels thing.

Re: Wheel Manufacturers/Distributors
I am currently in love with Speedlab/Shitfire wheels, feel great and they last too. Poured at Creative Urethane (same as Rainskate and Slide-A's only no core) and Shitty is shifting to Ultrathane which is supposed to last even longer. Mostly though I just like the shapes that Shitty come up with not your everyday park wheel shape or size

Re: Wheel Manufacturers/Distributors
quick question. although the formulas for all the wheels will of course be different, is one manufacturer going to inherently produce superior wheels? say the same formula was given to two different factories. (i.e. AEND and skateone) would one be better or at all different because its a different company?
