    Default Downhill wheels

Ok, I want something thats fast and will last awhile. I want it to drift controllably and grip when it needs to. I'm thinking about the seismic speed vents, but input on other wheels is appreciated and wanted. So in your eyes, whats the best downhill wheel?

notice I didn't say they were the best just that they are the most popular...I roll on Avila's, Hotspots and Superballs personally and prefer the feel

76mm 75a flys. Grip when you want them to, and slide when you want them to because of there shape. A better choice for what you want than big zigs.

I have been looking at either Avila's or In Heats(75mm 80a). Scott at Muir Skate recomends 4 Prez's (70mm 80a)

Check out any of the S9 Race forms, awesome wheel. They are cheap, fast, decently durable, and are just down right wicked. Great wheel for DH, and the most bang for your buck, In my opinion.

hey im just curious why nobody recomends orange bigzigs. I jus go a set a month ago and they feel faster than my other wheels, and actually arent too rough.

I run a few dif DH wheels
Kriptonics Classic Blues 85mm (for roads that need alot of drifting and where its faster to just slide around, easy to control, favourite all round wheel)
Tunnel Rocks (for when i need a touch more grip, kinda slow but if i forget to pack my s9's they will do the job)
S9 topshelf's 72mm (these are grippy but can break out nicely when they need to, these are my go to wheel)
Pink Big Zigs (these grip like crazy, they can be slid but if i am going to be doing any predrifting etc i will normally reach for my s9's or kriptonics)

I run these wheels on either an Evo or an 07 Avenger

I like S9 Race formulas. They have really nice grip and drift better than zigs IMO. I prefer the 82a ones. Just bought some divines and havnt gotten any DH on them yet, but they are really wide and seem very grippy from the little bit I rode them.

i have raceforms, bigzigs, zigzags, 4pres, inheats, flashbacks, and old ass hotspots.

raceforms have a great smooth and predictable drift but are the slowest of the bunch. they do wear at a really nice and slow rate as compared to otangs

bigzigs and zigzags grip and have a little more of a chattery slide and they lose speed in a slide quicker than otangs

otangs are quick have the cleanest break into a slide and the hookup is not harsh at all. very smooth wheel, unfortunately these things wear down super fast.

flashbacks are not as fast as otangs but have a slide that is just as smooth and they wear much better. the ideal duro for these wheels is 78-81a. you might be able to get away with 84a but everyone i know disliked them. the ride was harsh and so was the slide. anything less than 84a is like heaven in wheel form... ya id go jihad for these.

hotspots are pretty cool wheels. they are not as slow as raceforms but definitely not as fast as otangs. they love to grip too. i have not spent much time trying to slide these, but the few times i did it was not the smoothest. it was not horrible but for drifts there are better wheels out there.

so in my opinion if you want to get some serious speed and the occassional drift grab some zigs or otangs. if you dont need that much speed and want to drift more go with flashies (you could go for some stimulus wheels by otang, but they are like $25 more and perform the same).

a the moment i use stimulus for parking garages. i know its not exactly downhill. lol
    but i like stimulus.
they seem much faster than the zigs i have and are kinda drifty and fun but if you
need to be grippy they will grip. i have the 83a ones.

Look into Cult Death Rays. I have a pair, and every time I ride them I'm blown away by how good they are. They slide really smooth at speed, and can hold a great line. Not to sure on the durability front though, as I'm trying to kill my drifters at the moment.

I can attest to their durability. They have worn evenly-no coning or chunking-and have lasted me from november and are still in great shape. They still grip well but are easier to break into slides now that the lip is more worn. Great wheels, if you want even more grip though the blue cult gamma rays are supposedly a grippier thane formula.

Been using the S9 race from for a while, they provide a lot of grip but when they're broken in you can drift your turns very smooth

I'm riding a pair of 4prez purps (83a) and love them, they grip great but are a little harder than the oranges (80a) so will drift a little smoother. awesome wheels imo
